"Well, why don't you tell me about being a soldier?" Max suggested. "It might help you remember something,"
"thats just it i dont remember....just that i was" he said as they walked ace looked around trying to see if they were being watched
"Well, why don't you tell me what you think it means to be a soldier?" Max asked. This didn't sound like most cases of concussion-induced amnesia she'd heard about; it was almost like his mind was purposely blocking something out...
"um....i think to protect" he said "witch is why im following you....to protect you" he didnt know why but he just felt like he needed to
Max raised an eyebrow; nopony had ever wanted to protect her before. Part of her suspected some kind of trap... "Well... lets just hope we can help each other, shall we? I just want to get somewhere where I don't need protection; somewhere where ponies don't just shoot ponies on sight."
They walked on a little further until they came across some dead ponies. These ponies weren't like the ones they'd shot. They weren't armed, aside from one worn out revolver, and they looked like a family; a stallion and a mare, even two colts... "Oh Celestia..." Max whimpered, looking at the bodies. Somepony had obviously been through their pockets, and their wounds suggested they'd been mercilessly gunned down. The stallion's revolver was still in it's holster.
ace pulled out his 44 and pulled the pin back he didnt like this it made him feel bad that he hasnt here to help them
"What are you doing?" Max asked, looking up from the bodies and seeing Ace with his revolver. She looked around suddenly. "Is somepony coming!?"
"im not sure...but im not getting cought with my pants down" he said refuring to the fact they didnt even have theyre gun out when they died
Max got up with her back to Ace, wiping her eyes; she didn't want him to realise she'd been weeping over the colts; she didn't want him to see her as weak... "Let's just get out of here," She urged. "There's nothing we can do for them, and it'll be dark soon."
Max stopped and turned around, to see why he wasn't following her. When she realised what he was doing, she sighed and returned to him; she supposed a decent burial was the least they could give the ponies, and two could dig faster than one. She stood beside him and helped him dig the graves.
Max sighed. "Now lets just hope we aren't." The night around them was filled with all kinds of ominous noises. Still, She thought, This pony certainly doesn't seem evil; perhaps he can be trusted... She thought on this as they continued on their way towards the buildings.
"ya" he said as he started to walk towards they're destination "wait...dosnt that thing on your hoof have a light?" he reconized it but couldnt figure out the word
"Huh? Oh, you mean my Pipbuck?" Max replied, looking down at it. "It does, but I'm worried it might just draw attention to us..."
A horrible, rattling, howl on their left suggested it was too late for that; Max switched her Pipbuck's light on, and they saw a pack of timberwolves a few feet away. They all seemed twisted somehow, their bark falling off and revealing a sickly green glow coming from within their bodies. The howl had come from the wolf with his leg caught in a beartrap; the pack had obviously been sneaking up on Max and Ace, and would have taken them by surprise if not for that wolf's misstep. The rest of the pack looked at them and growled, preparing to attack...
ace magicly pulled out his ammo of his revolve"RUN!" he yelled as he replaced the ammo with a different kind
