"Not without making it a one shot" ace said shaking his head "if we find a double barrel shotgun I can do it to that" Jay reathced slowly in and grabbed a laser rifle
Jay then took out maxs 10 mm from her saddle bag and gave it back before putting the rifle in the bag Ace took the shotgun and attached a sling to it so it could hang on him like his sniper He then put it on along with his sword and other guns before takin the last bit of pancake "Everypony ready?"
Max smiled at Jay as she gave the pistol back; now she had two. Good to have a spare, she supposed. She put her old pistol back in it's holster, and stored the other in her saddlebags. "Ready," She said, nodding to Ace.
"ready" jay said standing up ace smiled and stood up himself before turning to max "lead the way" he told her
Max gave him a bit of a funny look. "You know the way too; we travelled together from the canyon..." She said, hoping he hadn't forgotten that too. She shrugged and led the way anyway, leading them out of the hospital and back up the street, making sure to lock the doors as they left.
"ya but not anything after the canyon" he noted before they left jay walked up to max as they past the last shop in town jay then looked at maxs face before looking at the ground
"Is something the matter, Jay?" Max asked, as she walked beside her, remembering to give careful glances to her surroundings.
she shook her head before looking back at the ground ace took out his sniper and servayed the area up ahead before putting it back
Max pulled Jay to her for a little hug as they walked. "You're very important to me Jay, I hope you know that,"
After a little while, they reached the house Max and Ace had stayed in on the outskirts of town, and headed back North, past the graves they'd dug for the poor dead family they'd found.
"They were already dead when we got here," Max said, sadly, looking at the graves. "There was nothing else we could do for them."
Max looked at the graves, and then at Jay and Ace, thinking about what he'd said earlier; could they really be a family? Could a family even survive out here in the wasteland? As she thought about it, she sat next to Jay, and put a hoof around her shoulder. "I've done terrible things," She admitted, looking at the ground in shame. "But I am tying to be a good pony."
Jay smiled and nuzzled her before bopping her nose "You are a good pony" she said smiling with her hoof on her nose Ace smiled and surveyed the horizon again "I'm max....remember our friends the timberwolves?"
Max blushed a bit, happy that Jay was speaking to her again, and kissed her hoof. "Thank you Jay, that means a lot," She replied, before spinning around to see what Ace was talking about. "Oh no..." She sighed, spotting the distant shapes on the horizon. "What do you want to do?" She asked Ace, "I don't think we can outrun them..."
