"Know any fire sp.....never mind" he said remembering that she hadn't used any last time so she probly didn't know any He then turned do jay who shook her head at him cause she knew what he was about to ask her "Then we move as far up ahead as we can" he said
Max nodded, and headed off towards the canyon with Ace and Jay, making sure to keep an eye out for any buildings they might be able to take shelter in. "Can't you take them down with your rifle while they're still in the distance?" She asked Ace as they trotted along.
"Alright..." Max said, scanning the horizon. "What about that?" She asked, pointing at an old caravan, parked at some long-forgotten camp site. "Could we take cover in that?"
Max got into the old shell; it would be a bit of a squeeze for the three of them, but it was better than open ground. "It might be worth staying here for the night anyway," She suggested, looking outside at the already darkening sky, "It's a good two days trot to my Stable yet, and I don't fancy sleeping in the canyon..."
Max blushed a bit and kissed his cheek, cuddling him back. "You think we'll be safe from the timberwolves in here?" She asked, looking outside, warily.
ace aimed the shot gun at the entrance "well theyll have fun getting thru a bunch of buckshot" he then smiled at her and started to stroke her mane "just go to sleep, ill protect you" he said to her smiling
Max thought, then looked outside. She spotted an old picnic table, and dragged it across the door of the caravan, before casting a mild sterilizing bubble around them. "There; this spell is usually used to avoid infection during surgery, but it should help cover our scent; as long as we don't make any light or too much sound, they should have a hard time finding us." She smiled at Ace. "We should still probably have sompony on watch though, we'll take it in turns, okay?"
ace said noting as he rested the shotgun down, but kept it aimed, as if silently saying hell take first watch
Max smiled and nodded. "Okay, but make sure to wake me in a few hours," She said, looking at him. "Come on Jay; let's get some sleep," She said, smiling at the young mare. She looked at the matress at the other end of the trailer, and sterilized it with her magic, before pulling a blanket out of her saddlebags. "Looks like we'll have to share," She said, apologetically.
Jay looked at her Her eyes heavy from walking all day "I honestly don't care" she told her as she climbed in the bed
"I'm glad, because we'll probably have to sleep like this a couple more times before we get there," Max said, looking out the window in the direction of her Stable. "Remember, wake me in a few hours," She reminded Ace, giving him a quick kiss before climbing into the bed too. It wasn't as comfy as the beds at the hospital, but it was a lot better than sleeping on the ground.
Ace smiled and continued his watch Jay was already passed out by the time max got comfy Ace looked over once more smiling at them lovingly It may have a bit of patches but he felt this was his family now
As she slept, Max dreamt of her Stable; they weren't quite nightmares, but they were quite unsettling. She tossed and turned restlessly in her sleep.
Ace shook her awake with a hoof over her mouth When she looked at him he put a hoof to his mouth saying to be quite He then laid back where he was and reaimed the shotgun as well as his sword
Max sat up and rubbed her eyes. "What time is it?" She asked, quietly, getting out of bed to sit next to Ace.
"Four ish" he whispered "the wolves found us but are staying back.....I checked the radiation and were fine so I've been wondering why they're hanging back.....and then you started to groan in your sleep" he said with a smile
Max blushed a bit. "Sorry..." She said, embarrassed. "Strange dreams. Do you want me to take over the watch? I'm up now anyway."
