Ace pulled her close to him and kissed her cheek "Honestly I don't feel tired so we can keep watch together" he told her as one of the timberwolves growled at them Ace raised the shotgun incase they tried anything Witch they didn't "Geeze were just having a big old pissing match now aren't we" he said to the wolf
Max smiled as he put his hoof around her. "Alright~" She agreed, snuggling him a bit. "You know, I was also the Stable vet..." She added, looking at the wolf. Her horn glowed, and the timberwolf's growl grew more high pitched, until it fell down, whimpering. "Well, we won't have to worry about his puppies coming after us," Max chuckled, smiling wickedly.
Max chuckled at Ace's expression. "I used to have to fix dogs, to keep the numbers under control; timberwolves aren't that different." She explained, blushing a little bit.
"Better than killing them, I feel," Max said, watching the wolf slightly sympathetically. "Unfortunately, all the others are female," She said, after concentrating for a second.
Max looked at her Pipbuck and saw that he was right. "Alright, you need to get some sleep," She said, a little firmly, "We can't have you all bleary-eyed and sleepy tomorrow; go on, I'll keep watch."
Max looked over at Jay; she seemed to be alright on her own... "Okay love~" She whispered, kissing Ace's forehead and taking the shotgun, not realising what she'd just said.
Max cuddled him as he slept, keeping a grip on the shotgun with her magic and watching the dark shapes of the wolves moving around outside the door. It was difficult to stay awake in the quiet and darkness, but she knew Jay and Ace were depending on her, and that helped her fight off the sleepiness. The hour passed uneventfully, and soon dawn was breaking, casting the wasteland in a strangely beautiful light.
Max relaxed a bit as the wolves left, and once the sun had risen a bit more, she yawned and gently nudged Ace and Jay; they needed to get going as soon as possible, to make the most of the light...
Max gave him his shotgun back then went to the bed to get her blanket and saddlebags. "Did you sleep alright, Jay?" She asked, smiling, while she packed the blanket away.
"Excited for another days endless walking?" Max asked them, jokingly, trying to cheer them up a little.
