"Well we should probably check a few more houses," Max said, sighing. "I still haven't found any healing potions or medical equipment; I want at least some fresh bandages if we're heading into a potentially dangerous area..."
The next house was unlocked, and as they entered, Max heard the scurrying of radroaches once more. She went to pull out her gun, then remembered what Ace had said, and just stomped them instead. "Ew..." She moaned, hopping around and trying to find something to wipe the green mess off her hoof.
ace giggled as his horn glowed and took the goop off "aim for the head....its less messy" he said to her as he looked around
Max smiled and laughed a little. "Were you a soldier? Or a professional bug exterminator?" She walked into the bathroom and stopped smiling; there were the skeletons of two ponies, huddled together in the bath tub. She sighed and looked around, then spotted what she'd been looking for; a small metal box with three butterflies on it. She grabbed it, then left the bathroom, and the skeletons, behind. "Who locks a medical box?" She complained, frowning as the box refused to open.
"no but there are less guts in the head...right?' he then followed her to the locked med box "i have no idea" he answered as he started picking the lock this ones lock falling right off "although i would have gotten a better lock" he said looking at lock on the ground he then opened it
"That'll do," Max said, picking out the bandages and leaving the healing potions for Ace. "I doubt we'll find anything like med-x or hydra outside of a hospital, so we may as well head into the town now, right?"
Max looked at Ace, a little surprised. "It's an artificial serum derived from the Hydra, replicating it's limb regeneration and healing abilities; so I suppose it could be called a drug, yes. I would have thought you were familiar with it; from what I've read, it was initially designed for use on the battlefield, to help ponies deal with injuries in the absence of a medic."
ace rose his eyebrow to himself (hmmm nothing....maybe i never used it) he thought not receiving a memory "well at any rate...do we want to check more homes or go into the town?"
"Lets just head into town; I doubt we will find anything of much use out here, and I want to have time to search the town before it gets dark again..." Max took a final look around, then headed outside.
The town wasn't to badly damaged; obviously no bomb had landed here, but everything was covered in a twenty-year layer of grime and decay, and some of the older buildings were starting to crumble. The streets were eerily quiet as they walked along, and Max kept close to the buildings, not wanting to be caught out in the open again. After a while, she spotted the cross and butterfly that she knew was the symbol of the Ministry of Peace; it was on a building, a couple of blocks from them. "Ha ha! A hospital!" Max said, pointing it out to Ace. "I knew there would be one here..." She'd only been a little filly before the bombs fell, but she had vague memories of this town, and the image of the hospital stuck in her mind. It made her sad to see the state the town was in though. It all seemed like such a waste...
"shhh" he told her frowning "were not alone" he wasnt sure how he knew but he could just feel like they were being watched and that was enough for him "i think we should travel the roofs or the allys and not the roads were there are places for a sniper"
Max frowned. "A sniper? What kind of pony would be hanging around watching the streets all day, just on the off chance somepony might wander thro-" The loud crack of a gunshot drowned out her final words, and her front right knee exploded, almost blowing her foreleg off. She collapsed and screamed in pain.
ace had seen the rifle come out the window but didnt have enough time to shoot before max was shot both his revolver and sniper aimed at the same time *BAM BANG* the shots resulted in a bloodsplater hitting the curtins he then magicly picked up max and ran to the nearest ally ready to shoot the next window that opened five stories above second window on the right *BAM* his sniper shot and hit the gun disarming what ever was shooting them as they got to cover "what i ment was there might be a sniper" he told her as he grabbed the medical supplies (if i hadnt had stopped her her whole leg would be gone) he thought as he finaly got the med kit he had as took the last med x he had and shoved the syringe into her neck
Max stopped screaming as the med-x took effect, and instead whimpered as she stared in horror at her ruined leg. If it was anypony else's leg, she would have been able to heal it with her magic and tools, but there was no way she could concentrate through the pain and the haze of the med-x. "Splint." She whimpered, looking at Ace. Her only hope now was hydra, but to get that, they had to get to the hospital...
ace took a few more shot as he magicly grabbed a board and brought it to her he took one more shot then turned to her and started to try his best at helping her then....his eyes unfocused and he just stood there staring at her leg
Max levitated out her medical bag and put it down beside him. "Just... pour a healing potion over it... then bandage it up... with a splint..." She managed to say through the tears; even with the med-x, she'd never felt pain like it, and she could see through her leg...
aces eyes came back into focus and his horn started glowing as he put on a determend face her leg started to cotorize itself "i just rememberd i have some training with healing magic" he told her "but we still need to get to the hospital"
