Max nodded and tied up the splint herself before getting up and wincing painfully. "How do we get there?" She asked. The hospital was on the other side of the street, and still about a block down the road.
ace looked around seeing a fire escape "by going up" he said to her before another shot rang out but was hitting theyer cover
"heres the plan...im going to carry you and your going to fire at the building acrossed the street...if a window moves shoot at it and dont hesatate or it might be our life" his horn glowed and a garbage bin moved under the escape the he lifted her and put her on his back "ready?"
No longer having to focus on standing, Max could use her magic to hold her new hunting rifle. She made sure to pull back the bolt and chamber a round. "As I'll ever be," She said, smiling weakly.
Max clung onto Ace and fired the rifle as best she could; it was heavy and she was moving about a lot, so she didn't think she actually hit anything, but she kept any potential snipers in cover, and they were soon on the roof. Now that they were safe for a moment, she decided to switch to her pistol. "You okay?" She asked, weakly, hoping her covering fire had been successful.
"ya...im ....ok" he panted "you know....you...and your...stuff....are a lot...heavier...then i thought"
"no...im...saying....im...out of...shape" he panted as he grabbed his sniper and went to the edge "and now that i have the hight advantage"
Max rolled off his back, grimacing from the pain and crawling into cover; he'd be better able to hit his targets without her lying on his back and throwing off his aim.
"It's felt better." Max said, gritting her teeth. Ace had stopped the bleeding, and the med-x was making the pain tolerable, but the bullet had shattered her knee, and she could feel her lower leg flapping about sickeningly, even with the splint. They needed to get to the hospital before the med-x wore off, or the damage became permanent; once the bone started knitting back together in it's new position, the hydra wouldn't be as effective; at best she'd be left with a nasty limp, at worst they'd have to amputate... She tried to put that thought out of her mind. "Is it clear?" She asked, the worry clear in her voice.
ace looked out there "that or they realized im a better sniper" he said crawling to the middled of the building and laying down next to max "get back on me....you wont be able to jump the gaps"
Max nodded and blushed a little, feeling like a burden. Stupid mare! She thought to herself, Three days out of the Stable, and you get shot? You think this is a coincidence? You're going to drag him down with you... "I-I don't want you getting shot because of me..." She said, hesitantly, even as part of her mind screamed at her to just climb on his back and let him take the risk.
"Then start using a levitation spell on us to make us lighter" he said standing up and started walking to the next building
"I-I guess I could do that," Max said, uncertainly; she'd never used levitation magic on herself before... It took all her effort, but she found she could levitate herself to some degree, making her only about half as heavy on Ace's back, whilst still being able to hold onto her pistol and fire at any shapes moving in windows.
Max saw the gap, and realised Ace might not be able to jump with her on his back. She looked around in vain for something to bridge the gap, then sighed and put her pistol away. "Hang on," She said, and closed her eyes, focusing all her magical energy on levitating herself. She managed to make herself weightless, but her horn was straining painfully, and she wouldn't be able to hold it for long. "Go," She winced.
Ace looked around for something to help them jump it (It's too far even with her being weightless) he thought as the gap approached He then stopped and saw a mettle mettle sheet and he moved it to the edge then he moved a heavy cooler onto the edge so it would stay in place "Ok here we go" he said before running at the ramp he made and jumped the gap, almost missing it by inches
