I already knew all this. I've actually said this myself multiple times (not in this thread specifically, but before). It's fun to apply logic to an illogical universe though. Just for fun.
Maybe Discord was a lot more sinister than Nightmare Moon because Faust and Co. actually EXPECTED a more mature audience. I mean, when they started, they were gambling that little girls would like it and wouldn't have given a thought towards teenage and older males. Now that we've made our presence abundantly clear to them, they decided to spice it up a little for the new demographic. Now that doesn't mean that they've abandoned the original target demographic, only that they kicked the heat for the older viewers. Sort of like how all of those double entendre and puns are thrown into Spongebob.
