Silver listened as the ponies around him discussed peace. He was all for peace too, but he felt that his diplomacy skills were less that subpar, so it would be better to keep quiet and act if necessary. Fortunately, it was not, as peace was agreed upon. The newcomer (or one of them, at least), Dark, mentioned a hideout that they could take shelter in. He saw her shed tears, but once more, his lack of faith in his social skills prevented him from acting. He knew how she felt, though; even though he'd had no especially close friends, he had maintained good relations with everypony in ponyville, and he was sorry to see every one of them go. As they entered the elevator, Dark issued her warning about weapons becoming useless inside. Well, fortunately that list doesn't include magic, he thought. Not that he planned on using it, but he wasn't going down there without some kind of defense, even if everypony else's weapons were disabled. He didn't trust the knife-crazy pony one bit.
Kleft felt sketchy magics at work as he entered the elevator. Something felt...not correct. He was tempted to place a shield around himself to counteract the spell, but he just knew that would make him look suspicious. He sighed and stood at the very back of the elevator to introspect his thoughts.
"Oh, and to those unicorns how planned on using their magic, forget about it. Only essential magic skills get through, Snow wasn't that dumb." And the elevator doors closed, "To the bunker then!" and the elevator began the long half mile descent to the bunker.
Motorin' had been listening to a conversation over a newly repaired radio. "They don't sound like they were trying to be heard; someone must have left a radio on...ah well." He thought to himself. Taking a sip from a bottle of lukewarm water, the pegasus delicately fiddled with the knobs to hear them better. "If I knew where they were, maybe I could meet up with them," suddenly, the voices cut out, replaced by static. "Oh, son of a...great. At least I know there's a relatively safe hideout hidden somewhere in Ponyville. And I'm sure it will be easy to find. *sigh*." And with that, he grabbed his gear and a map, and set off for the ruins of Ponyville.
The elevator made disturbing groaning noises as they went down. "This thing is a junkheap..." Kleft thought aloud. Realizing what he just said, he put his hoof over his mouth. 'Sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut!' he thought. Looking around, he saw that nopony had really noticed him, and he breathed a sigh of relief. The elevator came to a grinding halt and Kleft looked around nervously. He really did NOT trust this thing.
The elevator came to a stop after alsmost ten minutes, and its doors opened to reveal the sitting room of the bunker, "Now, this place is two-story's, has plenty of rooms and even its own electricity. You coul think of it as a concrete house that was buried in bedrock. Sorry y'all go get comfortable and I will make sure all the systems are running properlly." Dark walked off and entered her room, she flipped on the lights and closed the door. On her way to the system check box, something white on her desk caught her eye. She looked at it, it was an envelope. "Hello, now how did you get here?" she said to herself. She opened the envelope, and took out a letter, which read: Dear Dark, Though you saw me supposedly die in front of you, I'm still alive and well. Though I cannot tell you where I am going, for even I do not know, I can tell you this, everything is fine, I am okay. I hope that whoever, if anypony, who is staying with you will respect the rules. Sincerly, Your best friend, Snow Mark. A slow smile appeared on Dark's face, Snow was alive, even if she didn't know where Snow was, it was still good news to her. Dark saw the date on the letter, it was only of the other day! Dark couldn't help but let loose a joyous yell, most ponies didn't understand just how close Snow and her were, they were like sisters, if not an even better friendship. Dark checked the systems , took off her armor as she wouldn't need it down here, and she walked out after composing herself.
Silver stood nervously in the room with the rest of their motley crew. He continued to keep an eye on both the pony called Kleft, and the crazy-looking one with the knives. He didn't really trust them, especially the latter one. At least the wolves were gone... but he was still jumpy. He felt totally vulnerable now that he knew he could no longer conjure up his barriers, despite the fact that all weapons were useless down here. Suddenly a shout came from the room that Dark had let herself into. Silver's attention was drawn to the door
Grey Mane felt annoyed. "We'll meet again I'm sure...." Adn she slid off into the shadows, dissapearing back to hiding.
"Well, folks," Lightning said, "It looks like we'll be spending a lot of time together in this nice bunker." She walked over and sat at a table.
Silver looked around. The blue pegasus was right; he should get to know everypony here better if they were going to survive. You should stop being so suspicious, he thought, chiding himself. Well, actually, right now "everypony" consisted of...the two pegasi and the unicorn, and the others had either stayed outside or slunk away. Wow, he didn't even know their names. "Er," he began, forging into the silence, "my apologies, it seems I've neglected to introduce myself. My name is Silver Shield. What are your names?"
"I guess it is time for 'formal' introductions." Lightning began, "My name's Lightning Rush, everypony."
Dark came into the room, still slightly smirking and saw at least a few of the ponies were attempting to introduce themselves, "Hello again." She said, "I guess I haven't introduced myself properly yet, I am Dark Light, Elite Protector of the Royal Guards, or at least, I used to be. And if you would like some training, it just so happens there is a basement to the bunker for training purposes, although use of weapons is allowed down there, if they are aimed at living ponies, the magic protection will prevent any harm coming to you. And if your wondering why I broke down outside like that is because Ponyville is the place where I thought I saw a very close friend of mine die." and Dark walked into the kitchen area to prepare some lunch from the freeze-dried meals.
Following Dark into the kitchen, Silver peppered her with questions. A lot of questions. "Do you know who those ponies are? I mean, the ones who stayed outside the base?" "How exactly does this base work? How far underground is it? Does anypony else know about it?" "Is there anywhere I could go to build things? I'm a little on edge right now, and tinkering with machinery or computers helps to calm my nerves..."
Lightning reached into her saddle bag and pulled out an apple to eat, "ya know," She started, "I'm kind of glad I didn't get in one of those space ships, those ponies are probably dead by now." She took a bite out of the apple, "I almost got on that one transport, the 'Victor', but I didn't and don't trust those 'Flames of Trail' guys."
Dark was getting surpurply annoyed at Sheild's constant questions that she awnsered to the best of her ability, but she honestly felt like chucking the pecan pie she had just finished at his face. "Look Shield, I am being completely serious when I say this, but if you don't shut up, I will duct tape your mouth shut, tie you inside a rocket, and send you flying to who knows where okay?" she said on the verge of snapping. "And Fire, you know that I had a chance to as well, but I stood and defended the place, while you were comteplating wether to trust those guys or not, I was saving the whole place from being overrun, so please, don't talk about the war please, because I saw it up close and personal, and I do not wish to be reminded of it okay?"
"Up close and personal?" Kleft remarked. "Up close and personal is saying you saw the aftereffects of each battle. Heck, even the effects on the soldiers bef-AUGH!" Kleft yelled and fell as an apple soared across the room and slammed into the wall next to his head, exploding into tiny bits. A little shaken, he stood back up. "You said we couldn't use WEAPONS in here, I didn't know my magic was going to go all screwy! What have you done to my magic!?" He proceeded to wipe the sticky apple juice off himself, but to no avail. Kleft sighed and said "Never mind that, I'll get to that later. Do you have anywhere I can wash up? I wasn't exactly clean before I came in here, but this just seals the deal." He said with disgust.
Shield stopped asking questions. For about five seconds. "Oh...sorry...I guess I'm just a bit curious. I tend to ask lots of questions when I'm nervous, too. Which reminds me, do you have somewhere that I can do a bit of tinkering? I assure you, once I'm occupied, I won't bother you any longer. Well, at least until later."
(He tried to pick up the apple with his magic, but it went haywire and nearly hit him. Nobody threw it, it was an accident)
