(Alright, let's kick things off again shall we?) "What in the gods?" Roman said loudly to himself as the arrow sped past him and hit the king before burning him to a charred corpse. Just as the arrow hit its intended target, another one was fired at the Tanloan. Alongside the arrowhead was a faint blue magical glow that greatly enhanced it's firing speed and also seemed to carry a magic based fire attack. Even with their astonishing reaction times, the arrow would have been impossible for a Tanloan, or any race in particular, to avoid. The second arrow was fired from it's bow as the attacker stood on the rooftops. Unfortunately for him, Roman actually managed to catch the seemingly small arrow in his hand and crushed it like dust. The attack, terrified of what he had just seen, tried to make his escape. Roman leaned downwards and took the great axe from the previous assassin in one hand and threw it at the attacker, slicing off both of his legs and sending him almost comedically tumbling down from the rooftops onto the stone path below. The assassin, dazed and now missing both his legs, looked upwards to see Roman suddenly in his point of view and a gigantic boot that seemed to be moving closer and closer to his face. Roman stomped the assassins head against the building, causing the building a particularly small dent while nothing that resembled a head left the assassin dead on the ground instantly. Roman grumbled once the ordeal was done. Not only did the magically enhanced arrow kill his VIP, but now he was not going to get payed. Roman's eyes darted up from the ground in realization as he quickly ran towards the Citadel. Emperor Kugoro was not going to be pleased about this, unless he was the next target....
Natalie grabbed the money from her dad's corps, As well as grabbing his crown and royal coronation ring. She had the two things to her mother and was about to give the rest of the Tanloans payment to him but he went off. They got into the carriage as one of the royal guards that was travelling with them stayed with the body to be taken back to the ship. The carriage then continued towards the citadel.
Novi sighed, and shot a jet of flame into the dry bush. A yelp told her that she had hit her mark, and she watched as the bandit ran, his backside burning. She doused the bushes with water, her hair turning paler, and her eyes a little more blue. She turned and continued; heading towards Raltun.
Roman quickly burst down the doors of the Citadel alongside some Palace guards and found his way into the main throne-room. However, what he found would silence his doubts. Emperor Kugoro, and his entire guard, dead. Kugoro himself had an enchanted 10 inch bowie knife lodged deep inside of his heart, while his guard had died from other wounds. With the assassination of two kings by the same group of assassins, international affairs were all about to go to hell. Roman and two Citadel guards took several steps inside of the palace, studying the bodies of the deceased and the damage done during the attack. The palace was on fire and almost nothing could be done to save it. Roman and the guards went out the Citadel and waited outside of the gate, stopping the cartage as the citadel went up in flames.
Isamu ran out of the burning building. He coughed. He was in visible range of the others. He cursed in Jōshian, and he slammed the ground. "I was too late!"
The two guards stopped the carriage as Roman stood at the gates, thinking of what to do next. With the leaders of two powerful nations being assassinated, the conditions that had been set were increasingly dangerous for triggering a war. Raltun's civilians, as they were, were furious against what had happened and the chaos among the streets that followed. Just as the Jōshian ran out the burning building, he was immediately escorted to the gate by two giant guardsmen in full heavy armor that alerted Roman. From what he knew, the Jōshian could have known about this attack. But if he was affiliated with the assassins, then it was likely that he would be executed.
Isamu walked in between the two guards, cuffed, and his weapons confiscated. They approached the prison, and the was thrown into the cell. "You're in here until further notice." He would be questioned for his role in the assassination, but he knew he would be executed unless some miracle happened.
When Novi got to Raltun, the first thing she noticed was the smoke in the air. "Where there's smoke, there's fire." she muttered, her hair turning as dark as a raven's wing, and her eyes deepening to a rich navy. Her skin tanned, and her clothes changed, going from a mix of blue silks to a undefinable fabric, with colors of red, orange, and yellow, flickering strongly. She took off into the air, feeling the cool wind against her face, and she flew off, sparks trailing after her.
Natalie peered out of the window. "Does the emperor have any known family. Be they close or very distant, Then they must take on the mantle. If not then perhaps the most senior member of the royal court to take the place." she to Roman somewhat concerned. "Luckily my mother and I remain unscathed so she will be taking over from the king giving me extra duties as well. Though at least the whole Davinos'Pre-Tanloan marriage thing is called off for the time being."
Roman nodded in response before looking at Natalie in the eye. "I'm sorry about what has happened to your father, I heard he was a good man. Whatever family that our Emperor had....I don't think they've made it out alive. We've lost more today to these cowards than anything. I want to know who is responsible, just so it can keep my mind at ease." Roman said, feeling guilty about being unable to prevent the loss of the king. The fire had taken hold of the Citadel far faster than he had expected, whoever did survive were merely servants, and all senior members of the court were overseas on diplomatic missions or as ambassadors. Just before Roman could speak again, another knight appeared before him, recognizing Roman as the only surviving authority figure. While dressed in gigantic steel armor, he said nothing except holding up a piece of dark colored clothing and a white symbol. The moment he seen the symbol, his eyes darted upwards as he looked at a small gathering crowd of soldiers. "This is ex-Paladin Romanus Varra, former officer of the 203rd Legion and I'll be your commander at this moment. Killing innocents, burning down our citadel, murdering our emperor and our Davinos allies. I want these bastards dealt with immediately. I want anybody wearing this symbol is to be killed on sight. Anyone that is already captured, I want to speak to personally for information purposes. Now...dismissed."
When Novi arrived at the burning citadel, she noticed three things. First, the immense number of guards. Second, a caravan that was quickly making its departure. Third, a man handcuffed and led away. She took these notes, and decided that this fire was not a good fire. So she went to the ground, and her hair turned white, and long. Her eyes grew lighter, and had a touch of green in them. Her clothes fell into silks that shimmered with a iridescent light, and her wings grew long and thin, like a dragonfly's. When she was truly in her water form, she held a swirling ball of water between two pale hands. She 'pushed' the miniature tempest towards the Citadel, and a large stream of water jetted out towards the fire. She put her other hand out, splitting the streams into two. The fire quickly started to extinguish.
Natalie asked the Carriage driver to turn around as she noticed the woman who was certainly not a Tanloan. The carriage moved closer before the driver stopped saying he wouldnt go further and they should be heading back. Natalie didn't really care as she adjusted her tiara, grabbed her sceptre/spear/magic staff and headed out the door to investigate. The carriage driver didnt want to wait for her so drove off without her. The Queen unaware she was about to be driven into a trap, as underneath the carriage driver's shirt was a tattoo of the symbol Roman found. Natalie continued walking on towards the girl and poured the fire dust from the sceptres orb back into its vial switching it to a pale blue water dust. She focused as she tried to attune the water dust in her Speared magic sceptre staff to the water coming from the girl to get her attention.
As the fire died down, Novi turned and saw a woman holding a staff. Novi's hair turned a golden yellow, and her skin grew paler, so pale you could see veins through her skin. Her eyes turned almost white, and she wore soft cream colored clothing, with simple elegance. Her wings turned angelic, and white tattoos climbed her legs. She smelt faintly of roses, and vanilla.
"Wait, that appearance are you... A Quae? I had only read about your race in world history books. Excuse my manners, not very polite of me not to formally introduce myself. I am Princess Natalie Ser'ape of the nation of Davinos'Pre." Natalie curtsied towards the girl and smiled. Once she saw the white crystal's turned to the pale blue of the dust inside. She did a small demonstration conjuring a puddle after 10 minutes of heavy rain sized amount of water and waving the sceptre spear in an infinity symbol motion causing the water to follow the same pattern and as she slammed the bottom of the sceptre spear on the ground the water dropped quickly onto the ground making the area it landed wet.
Isamu was being questioned by the two guards. "You were found escaping the burning Citadel. What was that about?" "I told you. I was attempting to stop the assassination. Two humans lit a match and threw it into some oil." "Liar!" One of them hit him with his club. "How about we send him to the guillotine?" "That's a great idea. He's not going to break anyway." Unknown to them, Isamu was fiddling with the locks on his cuffs. He saw his blades in the room across from where he was. He broke the lock on his cuffs, and stood up. They looked around, and noticed he was uncuffed. They swung their clubs, only to miss. Isamu ran as fast as he could, and broke through the glass. He was cut by the shards, but he ignored the pain. He kicked down the door to the confiscated items room, and took his swords. He ran down the hallway, and approached the exit. All that was on his mind was escaping the country, and finding whoever set him up with this job. He ran out the exit, which led to a back alley. The guards chased him into the streets. He was surrounded. He threw his case of swords into the air, each blade landing infront of one of the guards. They projected a barrier around Isamu, preventing them from getting in. The barrier would only hold for 30 minutes, so he had to convince them he was on their side in that time.
Novi watched the demonstration with polite nonchalance. "Yes, I am a Quae." she said, "My name is Novissime Largo, but I used to be called Novi. It's wonderful to meet you." The air element seemed to have an impact on her personality; she seemed calmer, and softer.
Roman had to find out who was responsible for the assassinations and slaughter of innocent lives, and he did not want to waste anytime in doing so. Within ten minutes, twenty people, almost all humans, were killed after discovering the tattoos on their bodies in a retaliatory act of vengeance. All carriages exiting or leaving the city were due to be checked, so it was going to be an extremely difficult day for whoever was responsible for this attack. Roman, while not wearing the heavy distinct armor of the Tanloans, didn't require it's protection. A fully grown Tanloan male stood at an average height of 11ft, with females standing on average at around 9ft. With their simply enormous bodies and superhuman physical abilities, nobody on their right mind would dare attack them if they knew they were not going to win. With a full set of armor weighing as heavy as 350 kilograms and being at least 30cm thick on the chest plates itself, a single Tanloan great sword was the size of a helicopter blade. In numbers, attacking them was suicidal. Combined with nearly unstoppable physical abilities and the standard combat prowess of a Tanloan solider, only an idiot would essentially declare war against the entire nation of Raltun, especially one of such small size. Roman still remained with Natallie, who was standing about ten meters from him talking to a Quae, a species he hasn't seen before but wanted to see during his travels. Roman was talking to three other Tanloan officers about the attacks. It seemed that escaping to a new life was placed on hold for him at the moment, much to his displeasure. He was now the commander of the effort against this new enemy. The moment the enemy was discovered or introduced to him, all of Raltun would honorably erase the filth from existence. Luckily for Roman, he had already found a lead.
