I suppose having just joined I can't change my name for six months? Also maybe it could be noted in OP that if a name change hasn't gone through yet, reporting a post could be more effective than a bump. Just a thought.
6 months period only after the name change. You can request one now if that is what you were looking to do. Only admins have the power to change names, reports get sent out to all forum moderators. While it might make someone see the request faster, I think it might be a bit more courteous to not use the report function in that fashion.
Ah, I was unaware that admins were the only ones with name change power here. And I'm not sure whether or not I want to change my name. I'll give the site a bit longer to grow on me before taking a name someone else may wish to have.

Once I've been around a bit (if I decide to stay), I was thinking of getting my name changed to Cadance, if it's available. If not, that's fine too.

Yeah I saw that. The member registered an account, made absolutely no posts or anything, and hasn't been seen since.
I thought the staff had a thing about not letting people take canon names in the first place? Or did they change that? I forget. Anyway, thank you Tyro for changing my name! Nya ha!
It would be nice if there was an expiration date for accounts that are inactive...dunno if there is or not, just saying it would be nice.
Never liked those kind of setups. Some people leave then come back, yea they can make a new account but imo it's not really fair. People can be creative enough to pick something other than a standard canon name. :I
The system I've seen is if it's been over three months of no activity and someone's interested in the name, an email is sent to the user in question and given the chance to return to the site and keep the name. The thing is, the place that has that rule also doesn't allow names like "DJ P0N3" if "DJ PON3" already exists, IE, only one version of each different name. It depends on what's deemed most fair to everyone involved. Obviously it's impossible to be truly fair to everyone, but it's just a different system.
