She stopped her skimming to look up and smile at him. She opened her mouth to say something when they heard a door opening a few rooms off to the side. "Come on, Spike." said the voice. "We have to find that spell."
Rosy's horn glowed. Books flew in the air and returned to the shelves, except for the one, which went in her saddlebag. She followed him.
Frozen slowly made his way to one of the back aisles of the library and waited quietly for princess twilight to enter, so they could move around her.
The princess entered, followed by her dragon. Her horn glowed as all the books came off the shelf, floating around the alicorn. "No.. no!" cried Twilight. "It's not here!"
Frozen looked at Rosy worriedly, was the book they had taken, the one she needed? He signaled for her to follow him as he quietly moved around the, now bare, back rows.
Twilight closed her eyes, as Spike looked worriedly. Rosy followed Frozen, and her horn glowed quickly. Something flew into her saddlebag, and they continued on. Twilight faltered, and and the books all fell.
Frozen increased his pace, motioning for her to do the same, as they slipped out of the room. Once outside, they bolted for the treeline.
Inside the castle, the princess shook her head, dazed. "It's not here, Spike.." she said sadly. In the forest, Rosy caught her breath. "That was too close," she said.
Frozen nodded, sighing as pangs of guilt washed over him, "I truly wish it was not necessary to hurt others just to get things accomplished.. At any rate, we will return the book at least, when we are done."
"Which may not be as far away as we think." Rosy said, reaching into her saddlebag and pulling out a purple feather.
"Well, she was focusing really hard, and I plucked one." Rosy said, ashamed. "I used my magic to make sure it didn't hurt too terribly. I didn't get the scale, though."
"It was necessary," he said sadly, "Besides, you made a quick, resourceful decision! Her pain was temporary, and the book will be well cared for. In the end, she regrows a feather, gets her book back, and you get an eternity of as much love one lucky Windigo can give you."
"You're right." Rosy said, reluctantly. She kissed him lightly, and nodded. "Okay. Well, we might need to head back, and try and figure out about the rest of the ingredients."
Frozen kissed her back softly, "Alright my love," he said, taking her by the hoof and leading her back through the woods.
They entered the town, and Rosy blinked in the afternoon sun. "Come on," she said, "Let's head towards the tavern. At least there we can talk privately."
