"Is there any possibility that you, a close friend of Ms. Donner's, induced the suffering for your own personal gain?"
"Considering the effects of abuse have been long term, I fail to see how my interaction with her would work to that goal. I took her away from Ed and gave her a safe environment without fear of abuse."
The lawyer studied Frozen closely for a moment. "Mr. Heart, I will be the first to admit that ponies do not know much of your kind. We do not know how you operate. That being said, is it so impossible that you, a windigo who feeds on pain and suffering, would create a scenario between two ponies who were very much in love, and manipulate one into being abusive? Not to mention that Ms. Donner and Mr. Jadewind's house is the perfect, isolated location, which is great for the prolonged manipulation we are suggesting. A windigo such as yourself would never find a shortage of sustenance. Tell me, is that such a crazy notion?"
"It would be plausible, were I a typical windigo," he said, "however, my willingness to jeaopardize my own safety for hers invalidates your statement. Furthermore, your honor, I wish to resign from further questioning and respectfully request that you call princess Twilight to the stand as she was also a witness to the crime."
A small shriek came from the back, where the princesses were seated. The judge thoughtfully nodded. "Very well. Thank you, Mr. Heart," "We now call the princess Twilight Sparkle to the stands."
Frozen passed Twilight as he was waljing to his seat, "I apologize Princess," he said, "But I feel they are trying to set me up. I see it less likely for them to question your word than mine."
Frozen nodded gently and slipped to the side, allowing her to pass. He took his seat beside princess celestia and watched in silence. An air of discomfort clung to him.
Celestia leaned over, and whispered, "Don't worry; you did fine." She was surprised at herself for this, and shook her head as she sat up again. "Princess Twilight," the prosecutor said with a small bow. "Is it true that you witnessed Mr. Heart's relationship to Mr. Jadewind and Ms. Donner?" "Yes, that's right." Twilight said, clearly on edge. "Describe them, please." "Frozen and Ed were not, obviously, friends. I myself witnessed how Edgar treated Rosy, and I can't say many people would wish to be friendly with him. This is coming from the princess of friendship."
Frozen listened intently, hoping she would mention Frozen and Rosy's obcious love for one another. He leaned forward, on his hooves, as he watched the events play out.
"And between Mr. Heart and Ms. Donner?" Twilight grew slightly uncomfortable. "Er.. I believe that when they first met they were simply friends." "But...?" "I believe they are now engaged." Ed looked up, utter betrayal in his eyes. He slumped forward, leaning his head in his hooves.
Frozen would feel slightly bad for Ed, if he hadn't tried to kill Rosy and if he hadn't been the cause of a heart attack that nearly killed her. No, Ed deserved no remorse.
"Engaged?" asked the prosecutor. "Yes, I believe so." "Do you, Princess, believe it is legitimate?" "I don't think anyone could doubt Frozen and Rosy's affection for each other." The prosecutor thought for a moment, and nodded. "Thank you, your highness." "So now, at this time, the jury will discuss a verdict." the judge said, banging the gavel.
Frozen looked over at Celestia and noticed the look of disappointment on her face at the knowledge of his engagement to Rosy. "Are you alright your highness?"
"Really?" Hope flared in Celestia's chest, but she quickly extinguished it. She was being ridiculous. "Well, congratulations on your engagement."
"Thank you," he said softly, "I only hope she gets better soon, and that Ed gets the proper sentence."
