His frown deepened before he gestured with his head, continuing down the hall. "I think you must have me confused with someone else, ma'am. My boss should be able to help you out."
He looked back at her, looking uneasy. "I'm sure my boss can help you out, Ma'am. I've never met you before in my life."
He fell silent, looking slightly chided. They approached a door and Ferris knocked tentatively. She would hear a sickeningly familiar voice from inside. "Come in." Ferris opened the door and they entered. Romero was sitting in a chair, his back to them.
He steepled his fingers. "I have a suspicion, yes," he said lightly. "Although I expected someone else, I'll be honest. You've made things much easier for me."
He tilted his head, setting his hands in his lap. "What sort of a deal?" Ferris started for the door, his head down.
He laughed, looking surprised. "The necklace? I don't want the necklace, Fleur. It's nice, but I have all the jewels the world has to offer. I don't want them."
"Well, you see... that's the issue," he said flatly. He stood, going over to his table and assembling tea supplies. "The human brain... have you ever looked inside someone's mind, Fleur?"
"It's like a... almost like a museum, or a library. I have the remarkable ability to sort through people's brains. It's fascinating. However, one thing I am unable to get is locations. Places. I would have come to you and Alyssa directly, but no amount of... searching in Ferris' brain could reveal that."
