He looked very upset, but Alyssa reached over, taking his hand. "Don't say no just because you don't like change, Ferris."
He exhaled, leaning back. "And," Alyssa added, her lips pursed. "I think you guys shouldn't be in a relationship for the first month."
Alyssa hesitated, folding her hands. "I think that's pushing it, but... I don't know. I think a separation might be good."
"I just got you back, too," she said with a small frown. "If this helps us in the long run then of course I'd be willing."
"Plus, we have to get out of Sylvaele anyway. It wouldn't happen until we resettled anyway." Ferris sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck. "That's... that's a lot of sacrifice for you, Fleur."
That night, Ferris was sitting on the edge of the bed. His shoulders were hunched and his hands were on his knees as he stared out the window.
