He opened the bottle with a quick twist, kissing her temple before taking a drink. "Great. Spider retribution was called for."
She looked up at him thoughtfully, her brows furrowing. "Hey, Fer..? This might sound a little weird, but.." she sighed, fidgeting with her fingers self consciously. "I, uh.. I can really see a future with you in it."
He looked down at her, blinking and going quiet for a moment, having forgotten how to breathe. “You could?” he asked after a moment, resting his forehead against hers, his voice hushed.
He fell silent before looking up at the ceiling, looking like he was weighing something in his head. Finally, he looked back down at her, running his fingers through her hair, his soft grey eyes intense and sharp despite the smile across his lips. “Tell me about this future you see, Princess.”
She blinked, and quickly looked embarrassed. "Ah, well.. I don't know.. I just kinda pictured spending time with you, like on Christmas and stuff, or having dates in a park." She took his hands, and kissed the left one gently. "I just know you'll always have my back.."
He looked thoughtful, looking down at her in interest. Often, even though she knew him so well, it could be hard to tell what he was thinking. This expression was a strange one on his face. It seemed to be uneasy and unsure. “Fleur, I didn’t think I would ever get to be with someone like you,” he told her hesitantly. “And I still don’t know how permanent this could be. I don’t get it, if I’m honest with you. But rest assured, as long as you want a future with me, I’ll be around.”
He gave her a small, sad smile before he looked back down at the counter. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me, babe,” he said after a moment. “Things I did, things I had to do...” He took a moment before continuing. “I’m not sure you’d still love me if I told you it all.”
He looked up at her for a second before looking back down, seeming to not be able to hold eye contact for more than ten seconds. “One day, I’m sure you’ll know all of it,” he replied, quieter now. “But... I don’t want to tell you now.”
He looked up at her, not saying anything for a moment. “I mean... you know I’ve killed people, Fleur.”
She hesitated, frowning slightly. "I figured.. Listen, Fer, you don't have to talk about it right now if you don't want to, but.. You know I love you."
He looked over at her, bringing her hand to his mouth and kissing it. “For some reason, you love me” he replied quietly. “I’d... I’d never hurt you, you know. The things we had to do, Fleur... it was never anything I took easily.”
