Fleur tilted her head curiously, looking from Ferris to Claire. She didn't say anything, maybe a bit shy.
Claire kept her head bowed and Ferris looked over at Fleur. His voice softened considerably. “Fleur, meet Claire Academy. She will be your primary bodyguard.”
“Good to meet you too, Ms. Fleur,” she said quietly. “Claire will follow your every command and protect you at every turn, even if you don’t see her. It’s basically her new life goal is to keep you completely free of harm.”
Claire seemed to notice her trepidation and gave Fleur a small smile. “Don’t worry, Ms. Fleur. I won’t be in the way.”
He squeezed her hand gently. “Claire won’t be your only one. When is the next one coming on shift?” “I believe Jennings is taking the midnight shift, sir,” Claire responded promptly, her hands folded behind her back. Ferris considered this before nodding. “Alright, then... Fleur, I have to run, but you’ll be safe with Claire, okay?”
He gave her a smile before glancing up at Claire. "Keep her safe." Claire only nodded, her hands tucked behind her back, and he looked back at Fleur before leaving, heading down the street quickly.
Claire gave her a small reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Miss," she said pleasantly. "You just go about your day. There's no need to change anything."
It was towards the end of the day. It had progressed seamlessly, and although it was a little awkward at first, Fleur would quickly grow comfortable with Claire's presence. She had a very pleasant, gentle demeanor, and she seemed to be listening attentively when they spoke, her eyes earnest. As they were walking back to Ferris' apartment at the end of the night, they were discussing Fleur's dancing career. "Was it always ballet?" Claire asked, tilting her head. "Or did you ever want to try other dance forms?"
