"I think I need to go see Alyssa," he said, watching the horizon. "I can't... I don't want to take her out of the boarding school, but it might be the best option."
"I don't know," he said honestly. "I've been wiring any money I have over to pay for it for years, but that leaves a record, you know? I just... I gotta check on her."
He looked over at her, tilting his head. "It'll be okay. You'll find someone else to steal your necklace."
He was quiet for a moment before pulling away, almost self-consciously. "Here. I have some food for you."
He was digging through the picnic basket, pulling out various items, but it seemed more that he was looking for something to do rather than actually trying to achieve a goal. His brows were furrowed, and his mouth was a tight line as he worked.
He blinked in surprise, his brows furrowing as he studied her. He reached up with his free hand, placing it over hers. "I know you care about me."
He watched her too and looked extremely conflicted. He hesitated, before he seemed to decide on a tactic, taking her hand down. "Of course, you did watch me almost die. I suppose that would lead anyone to care about anybody, even a thief."
