“Now you’ve downgraded me to being never right? You hurt me deeply.”
"Oh, hush," she teased. "You'll be okay."
“Maybe I won’t be,” he said flatly. “I’ll die in my sleep tonight.”
She raised an eyebrow and hesitated before kissing his cheek. "You wouldn't dare."
He flushed, looking over at her with a big smile, his nose brushing hers. "Maybe I would."
She grinned, watching him gently. "But you shouldn't. I'd be sad."
He cupped her jaw with his hand. "Hm."
She brushed his hair back gently. "Are you tired?"
He hesitated, laughing a little. "I think so, but I'm wide awake right now."
She gave him a small smile. "You're cute."
His flush deepened and he shook his head slowly. "I'm just with a girl I like."
"Still," she told him, resting her head on his chest. "Cute."
He wrapped his arms around her. "I'm so glad you're here."
"I'm glad you're here too," she said. "I really missed you."
“I wasn’t gone for that long,” he protested, raising one eyebrow playfully.
"That doesn't change anything."
“It’s significantly diminishes the capacity for missing.“
She shrugged. "Still."
He rolled his eyes. “That’s not a good counter argument, my sweet. It doesn’t work like that.”
"I'm not listening," she teased.
