I know of... I think... 5 members there that are from EP that have a genuine problem with this forum. The rest came because they saw that other people they liked to talk to wen there, because they needed a forum and FiMU was the first one they found, or, like me, for the lulz. I fail to see why there is enmity between the two sides. However, there is, and I can't deny that. Now, if the two forums were similar except in people who go there, I'd recommend choosing one. However, they are altogether separate entities, with separate value, separate purposes, principles, what have you. Going to both is in this case altogether better than going to one, if only because you miss out on less. As for a central group deciding what is best as opposed to the popular vote, neither can truly know what is better, since neither is the better system. However, in one case, each member takes a dole of the responsibility, and thus can not blame anyone else, generally reducing conflict. In the other case, however, this problem will always happen, and as far as I can tell, a choice few decisions are exactly what caused this 'split' of ours, if we can call it that. In summary: Guys, what's with all the being defensive? Some left, some stayed, now let's all get along (or not) and stop trying to guilt the other side into submission, either with loyalty, responsibility, or any of the other millions of things you could be using instead. EDIT: Ninjas. All of the Ninjas.
I started to ignore that halfway through... FIM:U doesnt want any trouble... they arent trying to draw attention, and they are only being respectful of EP adn the other communities. This is not how Bronies should be! Everypony and the members of Ep should not be attacking FIM:U. why are they? to me, it seems its because they exist and they have members. it is not right. Let them be a community, accept your new neighbors with open arms and show your gratitude. show them what bronies do, love and tolerate. Bronies do not hate and attack. You are disgracing the name of EP and the name of Bronies everywhere by attacking FIM:U and seeing them as hostile. You are doing nothing but ruining this great fandom. BTW manehattanite, learn to be respectful.
Mane, why do you never cease to make me lol at your attempt at arguing? Because your opinion on FiMU, or, for that matter, an opinion in general, is definately the definition of objective. Protip: Objective is defined as "expressing or dealing with facts or conditions as perceived without distortion by personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations" I can see someone arguing that honesty is in fact objective, since truth is meant to be objective. However, when you bring 'taste' (your personal preferences), dullness (entertainment value, which is personal), and pointlessness (personal perception of worth), you lose any hope of being objective. Opinions are nice though, and everyone should have them. When you try to pass your opinion as fact by implying that it is objective, however, you lose all credibility.
Methodological objectivity =/= conceptual objectivity. One has to do with avoiding self-deceit in the formation of that understanding of people on which opinions are based; the other has to do with an impossible idea of removing one's mind from one's understanding of reality. Stop conflating the two.
My point was that anyone who reads this thread and thinks that "they aren't trying to draw attention to themselves" is extraordinarily dense and in denial and does not have an objective look on the situation. You are really, really bad at arguing. You are just a troll who puts up straw men and nerdy catch phrases. I don't think anyone can willingly be this stupid. For your erudition, being objective =/= not evaluating. The fact that my take on the situation has led me to use adjectives to describe it =/= unobjective. Given the context and content of this original post, it most certainly is tasteless, dishonest, sanctimonious, and pointless. You are right, the dull bit is simply my opinion, but I don't think anyone who watched that blubbering 2 minutes would honestly disagree with me.
