I'm australian let me answer this. VEGEMITE IS GODLY. Not many people in my family like it because it has a bit of a strong taste, but I can eat it with a spoon happily.
I agree. I've never had an affinity for coffee. I've tried to acquire a taste for it, but fail each time. I prefer tea any day. I actually start the day off with a cup or two of black tea with milk and, of course, SUGAR! lol. I swear, I'm dependent on the stuff. Haha. I also noticed that energy drinks were mentioned. I used to drink those, but not anymore. The only ones I really liked were Amp (just like Mountain Dew, it's another Pepsi product, heh). After a while, though, I didn't like them anymore because whenever I drank them, I'd feel worse later on than I did when I before (the so-called "crash"). I experimented with 5-hour energy shots for a while, which, to my surprise, actually did as advertised. I didn't feel too jittery and I didn't crash later on. Then again, unlike Amp which is loaded with ginseng, taurine, maltodextrin and guarana, 5-hour energy is just loaded with B vitamins; 2000% daily value of vitamin B6 and 8333% daily value of vitamin B12. The berry flavor was sweet, but the lemon flavor was bitter. So I preferred the former. I haven't had one in over a year though. Just for the record, I don't only consume caffeinated drinks. I also drink water, milk and juice (orange juice is one of them). There are times when I don't feel like drinking a sweet sugary caffeinated drink.
Hmm. I like soft drinks, but they aren't really my thing. I much prefer Earl Grey or any tea in general. Quoting Godot eh? I never liked coffee. Too bitter. I never understood how you could like that stuff. I'm a Sprite type of guy, I don't like the stuff with tons of sugar and stuff in it.
Seriously though, I think what Dan means is by comparison to some of the other drinks that have been mentioned. A 12 fl oz can of Sprite has 38g of sugar. A 12 fl oz can of Coke has 39g of sugar. A 12 fl oz can of Pepsi has 41g of sugar. A 12 fl oz can of Mountain Dew has 46g of sugar. A 16 fl oz can of Amp Energy has 58g of sugar. As you can see, Sprite has the lowest out of these five. So, I believe that's what he meant. Also, out of all of them, Sprite is not caffeinated, although some of the others you can purchase a caffeine-free variety of. In my opinion, that defeats part of the purpose of a soft drink, but that's my personal preference. I also strongly dislike any diet soda. It's just disgusting. Bleh. Well to me, any soda is full of sugar since I'm very nutritionally conscious. I get where you're coming from though, I suppose the soda with the least amount of sugar would be the lesser of the evils, although 38g is still about 10 teaspoons of sugar. The FDA recommends that your entire daily intake of added sugar (not counting sugar coming from dairy (lactose) and fruit (sucrose/dextrose)) should be limited to 10 teaspoons. So that one soda is an entire days worth of sugar. Any way you look at it, that's a lot.
Well, I'm not nutritionally conscious. I don't count calories or any of that. Luckily I have a high enough metabolism where I very rarely ever gain any weight. I surely hope that particular feature doesn't wane with age, heh. If 10 tsps is the recommended limit, I exceed that easily. After doing some fancy mathematics, I've concluded that I consume up to 15 to 20 tsps of sugar daily, but that's assuming the 38g to 10 tsp ratio is correct. So I take in 150% to 200% of the recommendation. Oh well. To be honest, I could not care less. And no, that wasn't from soda alone. I put 4 tsps of sugar into my tea, lol!
I'd like to try some. I like to try foods and stuff. _________________ Anyways, I rather take bottled water any day than whatever you caffeine guys drink. :derpe: I used to drink any type of beverage, energy drink, coffee, etc... now I depend on water.
Not many things make me ROFLMFAO in real life when I read them, but I nearly fell out of my chair at the first "LOLWUT" picture quote and post. These "Low-Carb" energy drinks I see are practically hypocritical of themselves. I've tried the Monster (Blue-Low Carb) and it's awful, but I don't see any point in drinking them. Energy drinks tend to give you energy, so you actually do *squee!* to burn carbs. I drink Diet soda, but I don't purchase it. I understand drinking them, but they can also cause problems because they're Diet. Anyway, thanks, all three of you, for the laugh.
