Quickstar sat back, panting slightly. "Well...looks like it worked. Good thing I've got a bit of practice doing that, even if that was the first time I tried adding love to the mix."
"Why didn't you say that in the first place?" Lace laughed and laid against the tree trunk again, her hooves behind her head.
Violet, red-faced, thanked Quickstar with a kiss on his cheek, "Thank you..." She whispered, and walked quickly over to Lace, "Um... hey Lace? Can I talk to you for a minute?" Violet asked, pawing at the ground.
Quickstar held his hoof over his cheek for a moment, the blush returning with a vengeance. It took a moment for Mint's question to register. "O-oh, my specialty? I teach a course in Creative Spell Applications at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. My talent is finding new and innovative ways to apply spells, and my course teaches students to have a certain mindset that allows them to do the same."
It took Quickstar a moment to understand exactly what Mint was asking. "An alicorn? Why would I have...oh! You mean Twilight Sparkle? No, I'm afraid not. She was personally tutored by Princess Celestia in pretty much every area of magic, and only attended standard classes at the school."
Quickstar gave Jackie an amused look. "Well, it's certainly been interesting, but..." He glanced over at Violet. "Not quite in the way I'd expected." Quickstar didn't want to get his hopes up, as he'd seen several signs that there was somepony else in her life; her remarks when she'd revealed that she was a half-changeling, about looking for 'him'; the fact that a pony as timid as her would be willing to throw herself at the very thing that had haunted her her entire life; he figured there was a strong possibility that her heart belonged to a changeling who she was desperately searching for, and he didn't stand a chance with her. Even so, he felt a protective instinct towards Violet, more like he supposed he would feel about a sister if he had one. He wanted her to be happy, to make sure she didn't suffer, and if that meant denying his own desires, then so be it. Still, a stallion can dream, right?
Violet seemed to sense Quickstar was thinking about her. She trotted back over to him, "Hi Quickstar, hi Jackie." She seemed to completely trust them, same with everypony else. But there was something... strange about her. Every time Quickstar would catch her eye, she'd turn away, blushing.
Lace had fallen asleep on her stomach her legs dangeling. She slept with a light snore with her wings stretched out.
Dark came back after a while, & say on a rock, facing away from everypony, & said,"see you guys tomorrow"
Unable to restrain his powers of observation, it didn't escape Quickstar's notice that Violet was acting in a way towards him that was...not in keeping with his assumptions. As with every time he had tried applying reason to relationships, he was left even more confused than he began. He sighed. *Oh emotions, why must you refuse to obey logic?* "Hm? Oh, Mint, did you want something?" (Mint, I'd already answered your question at the top of the page)
"never mind I'm going to sleep see you in the morning" mint went to go find a comfy spot and fall asleep)
