Heh yeah. I dunno. The ponies have the most intelligence so they are basically the human equivalent race. And the rest of the farm animals....are just farm animals. I really have nothing else to go on, other than ponies are the dominant race.:derpe: They need cows for milk, sheep for clothing, and pigs for.... in exchange for somewhat comfortable living. It's made clear that Applejack communicates with the cows at a casual level so they aren't really seen as a worthless population. I just contradicted myself.

I believe that the ponies are the result of gene splicing and the human's desire to create a god in his image. When all was said and done the humans had succeeded; they had created a god. With the increase of intelligence, the ponies were able to develop magic through the enlargement of their pineal glands. This resulted in the growing of unicorn horns. The wings of the pegasai were genetically engineered based on the wings of birds. The pegasai, having a similar but not as apparent growth of their pineal gland, became able to control the weather. The combination of unicorns and pegasai resulted in the creation of the alicorns Celestia and Luna. The humans also created creatures such as the manticore and the dragons of legend. With the power of magic and the now unpredictable weather turned against them, the humans could not hold off rise of their new pony overlords. Humans in their folly attempted to make a god in their image. Humans succeeded and this is the result.(Or Equetria exists in the Bermuda Traingle and we just don't know about it)
Well Twi can use magic. As for Fluttershy, I think holding the cup with one hoof on the handle, and the other on the opposite side would suffice.
Well handles on the cider cups were large enough to fit their hooves through them to help hold them. As for the teacup handles, I think they have a more aesthetic purpose versus a useful purpose. But the cups can still be held regardless of handles.
well, dragons have fingers, what if cups handles are made for dragons and other creatures living there?
maybe cups are something that came with tea traditions that were introduced from a foreign nation with fingers, making it more of a decorative and fashionable custom? After all, we don't know who brought tea to Equestria, and it is possible that the drink was introduced with some baggage.
The cups with handles and all is just like how their shoes have heels and room for toes and all. I mean, have you seen Applejack's boots, or Rarity's glass slippers? Ponies don't have toes. EDIT: And no, I haven't read this thread. Someone probably asked about that already.
Maybe the cups have those handles, so a pony can carry it without putting their mouth on the rim of the glass. In during so, the other pony won't have to put their mouth on the same place the other pony put their mouth. That's my guess. *shrug*
