If you want to call yourself a pegasister/bronette/femare, go right ahead. :)

    I won't stop you. :)

"Femare". Never heard that one before...

How about felonies, for female ponies? :p

Never liked the ring of pegasister nor its specificity. Bronette is hermaphroditic. Femare is redundant.

Women who watch MLP should just be called by their names, really, or bronies (it has become gender-neutral enough). Girls who watch MLP are just girls who watch MLP... they're the intended audience.

I always call myself a Brony,it seems for suitable. It sounds like your a Pegasus, even if their not your favorute breed.
Bro can be used for male and female,it's a bit sexist if you think about it and how woman can't be Bro's,so it seems only fair for both genders to be called a Brony.
@Manehattanite,we aren't the intended audience. Intended audience are little girls, about 7 and below. We need a name too,for we are an older age group who enjoy the show and watch the show,it'd be fair to get a name too, just like guys. Anyways, every fan is called a Brony,if guys watch the show and meet you, they'll call you a brony. Every fan-made clothing line that talks about the show and it's viewers has BRONY on it.

Just look up Pegasister shirts, nothing shows up. If you ever want to show your a fan proudly, you'll be a brony. :)

Ah, good ol' Manehattenite, up to the old shenanigans again.

In any case, brony has become fairly gender neutral by now. Why not use the recognizable name?

If not the gender-neutral 'Brony', I'd say Pegasister, then, even if it is a little longwinded and lacking in the same flow of 'brony'. Bronette is just lacking altogether and doesn't have much pony-association, and femare just sounds plain creepy (or maybe I'm just associating it with 'femur', but still, there is something wrong with the way it sounds)

Being a feminist I shy away from anything that is gender specific and identifies people into categories. I prefer and refer to myself as a Brony. I don't think it's necessary to create different terms for female and male pony lovers. If someone wants to be referred to as a Pegasister (either a woman or homosexual man) etc than that's fine but I prefer Brony.
I've also experienced in some situations on forums that once they find out I'm female the topic either becomes more sexual or they modify the way they speak to me even though they didn't treat me differently when they first met me and didn't know I was a woman. I can tell a difference in how I'm treated based on gender so I prefer to remain neutral.

*Brohoof Foxtail* Most certainly. We shouldn't be divided into groups. We're all about love and tolerance which should have gender boundaries. In Equestria- male and female ponies can do anything they want to as a profession or interest and they interact with each other as fellow ponies and potential friends, not based on gender.

I thought that Brony was always the neutral term...

    I'd just stay with Brony.

THIS! Thank you. It's like "We get it. We have a vagina. It's not some magical beacon smack in the middle of our forehead. Yes, yes, yes. Girls on the internet. Ooooh shiny. Now, continue your fart jokes please."

That's one thing I love about this forum. Women are still treated like one of the dudes. I never understood why that happens. Do they think they're gonna get somewhere with us? Maybe that will happen. But in the meantime? My my, how presumptuous you are. Or they're like "OH GOSH LADYFOLK. On my internets? \(*A*)/". It's like.. Get over yourself xD Women make up a large part of society these days. You're related to at least one lady anyway.

Anyway, didn't mean to get off-topic there. End of story; I'm a brony. Thank you dudes for treating me like just another dude. =P It's very appreciated.

This is a great point and it's precisely why we've always provided gender neutral pony race options (i.e. Just unicorn as well as unicorn (m) and unicorn (f)). We had a bit of a problem in the site's youth. I know a lot of girls are very happy being called bronies, It's probably actually guys who made up pegasister and all that. Lol.

LMAO I was thinking the same thing but I didn't feel comfortable saying it quite like you considering I'm still new-BUT EXACTLY! I hate when guys who have been talking to me on forums for months will find out I'm a female and then I start getting personal messages like "Wanna F-k" or they start acting like sissies when they speak to me; (imitation of Rarity) as if I'll wilt underneath they're vulgar words not fit for a dear ladies ears. Screw that, I don't want to be treated differently just because I have a vagina and not because I'm ashamed of being female (rather be famale than male, no danglys to worry about) I just want to be able to enjoy my dirty jokes, dark humor, sarcasm and being a dirty bastard without someone looking down on me because I'm a girl and "Not meant to behave that way". I like this forum because of it's gender neutrality. I enjoy being talked to as a person and not a gender. I really think that MLP:FIM is perfect at teaching people (or men and boys) gender equality and seeing that women/mares can be strong, capable and intelligent and they aren't automatically lesbians or man haters. Also that you can interact with them in a friendship sense and it doesn't have to lead to anything.
