Real wisdom can't be transmitted by words. Reading books by dead men only teaches you what they said. You must live and learn. You cannot learn it then live it. At best, you'll only achieve mimicry.

God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

 

Counterpoint: all true knowledge is "mimicry" since it necessarily involves experience of some sort.
