Guess I've got a bit'a Claustrophobia. And Arachnophobia. And Coulrophobia... *Shudders* Yarp, not a fan of Clowns.
Ugh, I hit 'Reply With Quote' and didn't expect the spoiler to be revealed! I thought I might have been the only one on here with Molluscophobia. Slugs are the big one for me, they may be harmless but the immediate sight of them is enough to make me want to turn in the opposite direction.
I have an absolute fear of being in deep water...but its weird cause...i swim fine in a deep pool....i can dive and frog swim around happily...but if its knee deep river or a lake or the sea....then...well thats different...once i was wading into a lake with a life jacket on and still couldnt make myself go any deeper than my thighs...i just kinda broke down and waded back out crying...the first time i found out it happens is when i was playing around in a lake and i stepped wrong and lost my footing and i couldnt find it again and i panicked and flailed about and ended up waking up on the beach surrounded by people...i had panicked so much i had forgotten how to swim or that i could put my foot back onto the ground so i ended up drowning and passing out from stress as i was being saved...i was lucky to be literally surrounded by people and some of them had boards i could be put on as they took me back to shore... so yea...might have started as a panic attack but its now a full blown phobia
Im the same though someone told me it's called Limaxaphobia... *shrugs* Worst think happened last night, I went outside in the dark barefoot to put the trash out and of all the places I could have stepped I stepped on a slug *cringe* I got inside and almost cried
Going by the meaning of phobia as irrational fears, definitely moths for me. They won't harm me, but they're just disturbing. I really can't stand any type of bugs, but moths are a specific phobia for me as they are always there coming into those house during night, and they have no control over flying, so they manage to hit me. And they're fuzzy... No bugs should ever be fuzzy. Ever. Ewww. When one touches me, I will start going crazy unless I get inside and wash off wherever they touched me. >.<
I'm alright around snakes and spiders, but they scare me when they are close up. But my biggest fear is heights. I'm alright around heights if there is something solid below me, but I'll be absolutely petrified if I'm just suspended in the air. During my school camp in the 9th grade, I had to attend this whole religious camp with the other boys of my grade. The two main activities was to go on a giant swing (At least as high as a five story building) where you are just suspended in the air until you pull a lever, and the second activity was to walk a tight rope at that height. I did manage to do these activities after "Careful Diplomacy", but I was not happy afterwards. Also, one of my friends (Who I'm going to call Josh to protect his identity) quoted Red Vs. Blue Teacher: Josh, what do you see? Josh *Screaming in anger*: "WHAT DO I SEE? I SEE EVERYTHING! I'M ON TOP OF THE *beep* WORLD !!!"
Mmm, my brother used to work at a place that had a swing like what you describe, but I think a lot smaller. It also had a bungee and a 1km flying fox (full body strap-in).
I have Glossophobia when I'm in front of crowds and I'm talking about something that I really don't know anything about.
I guess it's a form of thalassophobia (fear of large bodies of water), but I find terrifying the thought of swimming in oceans, specifically. As well as the channels connecting them. Hell, I honestly can't even look at the oceans on Google maps without shuddering. I'll let the tides wash over my ankles, but I ain't going any further out than knee-deep. And even then, my heart rate soars at the undertow. Lakes and reservoirs, though, I'm just fine with for some reason. Probably because I know they're closed off, shallower, have weak currents, and contain (probably) no sharks or riptides. - - Auto Merge - - One very good reason would be the damage one spider can wreak. My eldest sister was bitten by a brown recluse. What'd she get out of it? A clump of gangrene in her arm the size of a golf ball.
I am afraid of heights (Except for roller coasters), and my main fear is... Cock Roaches and Water Bugs.
It's not that bad, I just used to it. Also, http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/wildlife/2013/03/30-of-australias-deadliest-animals/
Limnophobia, Thalassophobia and minor Potamophobia....thats what ive found is the best way to describe mine...but its kinda too specific of a phobia to be perfect in description
I guess my phobias are sort of normal. I have a fear of poisonous spiders (Brown Recluse and Hobo Spiders) and fear of flying in commercial jetliners. I can handle commuter or small aircraft, but after I saw the Lockerbie disaster around the same time that the movie Millennium came out, I have to take sedatives to get on a large plane.
I fear little. Yet i do have a slight aversion to dark. Its not darkness itself. Its what could be inside. Now cosmic nether voids filled with twisted screaming nightmares are another matter.
