Ch. 1 – The Arrival It is a wonderful sunny day in Ponyville. Every citizen has a great big smile on their face. Pinkie Pie especially, as she was unusually happy today. She was jumping and singing all over the town square until Twilight, who at that point was inside studying magic, came out and asked her, “What’s going on Pinkie?” Pinkie responded in fast jittery manner , “OhIcantwaitmypenpaliscomingtovisitIcantwaittoseehim!” and continued her silly song about how wonderful he’ll be. Twilight is still annoyed, but she knows talking to her won’t do anything. Just then, Derpy Hooves walks up to Pinkie with a letter in her mouth, motioning her to take it. Pinkie receives the letter, and reads it. She sighs, and looks quite disappointed. “what’s wrong?” Twilight asks. Pinkie replies that her friend won’t be coming today. He got caught up with some trouble at home and doesn’t know when he can come. Twilight says she’s sorry he couldn’t come, and to cheer her up, asks her to her library to have some fun. Just then, Rainbow Dash zooms by and sees her two friends. She says, “Hey guys! What’s up?” and Pinkie replies, “Oh nothing much, my pen pal couldn’t come over today so Twilight and I are going to have some fun in her library!” Dash asks, “Fun? What’cha gonna do? A party? A sleepover? Can I come?” Twilight, not wanting to have Rainbow destroy her library, says, “Well, Pinkie Pie and I were just going to- “ and Just then Pinkie interrupts and says, “SURE! We’ll have the BEST sleepover EVER! And we’ll invite Apple Jack, Fluttershy, and Rarity too!” “Great!” Rainbow replies, but before Twilight can respond to these plans, the two are off to invite their friends. Twilight sighs, and walks back to her library, to set up the impromptu slumber party. When she gets back to the library, Spike opens the door and asked,”What’s up?” and Twilight fills him in on what just happened. Spike says, “Rarity’s coming too? Oh boy! Do you need help setting up?” and Twilight accepts his help. Right as they finish, it’s close to dusk and the ponies are at the door. Spike opens the door and welcomes them in, giving Rarity a special welcome, which scares her a little. Twilight gets out her book of slumber parties, but Pinkie Pie takes it from her and says, “We don’t need books to tell us how to have fun!” and starts to play a game with Rainbow Dash. Apple Jack, Rarity, Spike, and Fluttershy start to play too, so Twilight decides to just go with it. After playing a few games, telling some scary stories, and eating delicious smores, they hear loud, thundering galloping outside. Spike thinks it’s a stampede, and hides by Rarity. Twilight laughs and says, “Oh Spike. It’s just a few ponies running outside. Don’t be afraid.” Spike says, “Afraid? I’m not afraid! I’m just making sure Rarity is safe!” Rarity says “Hmmmph!” ,raises her head, and walks away, leaving Spike sad. Twilight checks outside, and sees five ponies she doesn’t recognize. Pinkie Pie sticks her head out the door and instantly gasps and runs out the door. She talks to one of them, with her quick mashed speech from before. The other five ponies and Spike go out to see these ponies. The mysterious ponies introduce themselves as the Sea family, with the one Pinkie was speaking to as Sea Mareno. Sea Mareno introduces everypony else in his family, his older sister is Sea Shell, a blue earthpony with a straight short mane, with a picture of seaweed for her cutie mark and his younger sister is Sea Star, a young grey unicorn filly who has yet to discover her own cutie mark. His two parents are Mr. Ivan Sea, or I. Sea, who is a grey earth pony with a blue mane and a picture of a fishing rod for a cutie mark and his wife is Sea Marina, a green and blue unicorn with a picture of a fish for a cutie mark. Sea Mareno explains his story on how he got to where he is now. “So my family and I were in our old house, and we were living quite peacefully. But then, THEY showed up. Out of the sea, the terrible creatures. We thought we could fight them off, but they were too powerful. A few days after they showed up, they’ve destroyed everything. We needed to leave, we needed to find a new home. Then, I remembered Pinkie Pie and how I was going to come and visit. I thought maybe this would be a great time to come. We didn’t really have anywhere else to go, so we all decided we should come here. And so we came. But enough about us. Tell us about yourselves!” Dash, Rarity, Twilight, Apple Jack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Spike introduce themselves, even though the Seas already know Pinkie. The ponies ask if they can help the Sea family move in, and the Sea family would love the help. They’d love to be near water, but there isn’t a body of water large enough to make them happy, so Apple Jack decides she’ll build a large swimming pool near her orchard. Rainbow Dash agrees to help as well, as he can use rainwater to fill it up. The ponies all go into Twilight’s library, where Mrs. Sea is impressed with the vast collection of knowledge. The ponies go to bed, except for Mrs. Sea and Twilight, who stay up all night talking about different things, like how life is by the sea and magic, since Mrs. Sea never learned magic, being the only unicorn other than her daughter where she used to live. Ch. 2 – Settling In In the morning, Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack set off with Sea Mareno to build the swimming pool. Pinkie Pie offers to go too, but Mareno thinks she should show his family the town, and possibly some of her famous cupcakes. Pinkie is upset a little that she doesn’t get to spend time with her new friends, but “At least I get to spend time with his family!” she tells herself. The other ponies then leave the library to familiarize themselves with the town, except for Twilight and Mrs. Sea, who stay inside reading books and cleaning up the big mess that was the result of the many guests Twilight had last night. Mrs. Sea isn’t used to seeing so many books, because “There aren’t many books when you are a lone family by the sea,” she tells Twilight. As the group of ponies walk down the plaza to meet the town, the Cutie Mark Crusaders run into them. Sweetie Belle notices that Sea Star doesn’t have a cutie mark yet, and Scootaloo immediately invites her to join them. Sea Star begs her dad if she can join, who eventually lets her. She is so excited, because she always wanted to know what her cutie mark will be. The four of them scurry off to have more adventures as the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Pinkie is again upset, because she has even less of her friend’s family to spend time with. As they go along, Mr. Sea sees a lake by Fluttershy’s house, and starts to talk about how much he loves fishing. Fluttershy is fascinated by his stories, and they both run off to fish, (catch and release) Fluttershy is excited because she never really talked to fish before. Once again, Pinkie is upset, but she still has Sea Shell to spend time with. On the next stop they go to Rarity’s shop, and Sea Shell really wants to go in. She loves clothes, and she makes all the clothes for her family. In the end, she and Rarity run off for the store, with Spike following them. Spike and Sea Shell have been talking the entire time they’ve known each other, and Spike feels like he can trust Sea Shell, since Rarity seems to like her as a friend. Spike told Sea Shell about his secret, and Sea Shell told him she might be able to help get them together. This leaves Pinkie Pie all by herself. She’s angry at this point. She feels like all of her “friends” abandoned her for her new friends. But she knows what can bring them back. She still needs to throw a party for her new friends to welcome them to the town. She immediately runs around to find all her friends to invite them to the party, but this doesn’t go so well. Ch. 3 – The Party Pinkie Pie first goes to Twilight’s library to invite them. Mrs. Sea tells her she LOVES parties and wouldn’t miss it for all the books in the world! This makes Pinkie very happy. She skips to Apple Jack’s orchard, where she finds Apple Jack and Sea Mareno talking. She invites them to the party and tells Apple Jack to invite Rainbow Dash when she comes back from collecting clouds. As she leaves, she sees Sea Mareno give Apple Jack a kiss on the hoof. He says he appreciates the hard work she’s done for his family. Pinkie Pie is getting jealous, because she’s liked Sea Mareno for a while. She grumbles as she walks and then runs into the Cutie Mark Crusaders by the lake. She invites them all, as they are swimming. Sea Star is the best of them, but she isn’t as good as the rest of her family, she says. Apple Bloom is pretty sure they should try something else before one of them drowns. Sea Star suggests diving. The other fillies groan because they’re tired of all the water sports. Pinkie giggles at how silly the fillies are, she wishes them good luck and goes to Fluttershy’s hut to see how she and Mr. Sea are doing. Mr. Sea is standing like a statue fishing while Fluttershy eagerly waits for him to get a nibble when Pinkie sneaks up on them and says’ “What’s up?” startling them and causing Mr. Sea to fall in the water. I. Sea jumps out and starts to yell at Pinkie Pie, who cowers a little and says she was just having fun. I. Sea states that, “That is absolutely NO way of having fun. You, miss, shall go from here at once if you wish to have ‘fun’ like you’ve been having.” Pinkie is about to leave, but then remembers she came to invite them to her party. Fluttershy says ok but Mr. I. Sea just says “Bah.” Next is Rarity’s shop, where she knows she’ll have more enjoyment than with “Icy Mr. I. Sea.” When she opens the door she sees Rarity and Sea Shell working hard on new dresses, Rarity excited that she’s using new techniques Sea Shell taught her and Sea Shell whispering in Spike’s ear resulting in him giving Rarity a strange pickup line, and the two girls giggling. Pinkie asks, “What’s going on here?” and Rarity responds, “Oh, we’re just having some fun with Spike. We can get him to say anything if he thinks it’ll impress me!” Pinkie laughs, and invites them to her party, and Sea shell is excited to go. She says how she’ll need to make the best outfit for the party, which makes Pinkie happy. Pinkie leaves to get her party set up. Once she is done, she waits outside for her guests to come. A few hours pass, and still no one showed up. Pinkie Pie is starting to feel sad. She just wanted to have her friends feel welcome. She waits until night falls, which at that point Mr. and Mrs. Cake tell her to go to bed. She goes to bed, feeling depressed and betrayed. The next morning, Pinkie Pie wakes up to see her friends outside her house. Infuriated, she starts to yell at them, saying how she waited all afternoon for them to show up, and they never did. They each gave their reasons: Twilight and Mrs. Sea with Mrs. Sea finally was able to do some magic, and she was so excited she completely forgot; Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, and Sea Mareno with the swimming pool ended up being too small and they had to spend all afternoon making it big enough for the entire Sea family; the Cutie Mark Crusaders got tired with all the swimming and water sports that they all fell asleep and slept through the party; Fluttershy and I. Sea lost track of time with how much fishing they were doing (Also I. Sea didn’t even want to go); and Rarity and Sea Shell spent lots of time making their dresses, and then Sea Shell set up a date for Spike and Rarity, which Spike ruined by accidentally setting her house on fire. Pinkie Pie is still mad. She decided she wouldn’t talk to her friends anymore, she decided. But then, Sea Mareno said, “I had a wonderful time spending it with Apple Jack- I mean building the swimming pool. I really felt welcome.” Mrs. Sea said she had an amazing time performing magic and is glad to have come here. Sea Star said, “I might finally be able to find my cutie mark! I’m not as good as my family with water-related things, so I can finally try new things!” with the other three Cutie Mark Crusaders simultaneously saying “Yeah!” Mr. I. Sea says he is glad he can fish here, and doesn’t thank Pinkie Pie for anything. Sea Shell is excited to make a new dress out of material that isn’t seaweed, and can’t thank Pinkie Pie enough for helping bring her here. And with that, Pinkie feels glad she could help her friends, and she’s happy each of her old friends helped bring her new friends into the community. Twilight says she knows what she’s going to write to Celestia about today, and looks for Spike. She finds him with Rarity apologizing and asking for a second chance. Rarity giggles a little and tells him maybe later, and he jumps for joy. Twilight asks him to take a letter. Twilight begins to speak. “Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that sometimes, you need to share your friends. Sometimes, your friends would like to spend time with someone else for a change, and we shouldn’t get upset when we don’t get to spend as much time with them as we’d like. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.
