Pinkie Pie, IMO, was very annoying in the first episode, but I could tell that I would enjoy her antics later. She obviously is the big comic of the group (well, they're all comical, but Pinkie's funniest!). If I could describe her in one whole sentence, it would be: She's the one who knows that she's in a cartoon. There's also a big backstory behind the cuteness, and to me that just gives her more character. Pinkamina Diane Pie is just...scary! I never expected her to snap, but I guess I saw it coming seeing how everypony snapped sometime in the series. (Though at the time, I was convinced Fluttershy couldn't snap at all). Anywho, she's just an amazing character, how anyone can dislike her is beyond me! =)
I like Pinkie Pie because even though she's hilarious, she's still probably the most messed up. Where are the Psychology people on this forum? Someone needs to diagnose Pinkie Pie!
Pinkie is fascinating. I don't think there are any adequate words to describe just how much I adore that pink pony.
I'd have to agree with how she seemed annoying at first. But then, I grew to love her and her antics. <33 I find it kind of worrying that all of the main ponies have had a psychological meltdown so far- perhaps Celestia is more of a troll than I thought?
I've noticed Pinkie Pie is the most animated of the cast (as in moves about a lot, not computer animated, obviously). What I mean is, Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, all the other ponies look normal on all fours. Slightly ridgid maybe, but normal. Pinkie however, does not look at all out of place standing up, doing a handstand, anything. It's like she's made of playdo, and just looks normal being contorted into all sorts of comical shapes. All part of being the comical character I guess. A lot of innuendos in that post, now that I read it back.
I love her homage to Pepe le Pew in Episode 5: Griffon the Brush-Off at the beginning when she's chasing Rainbow Dash and just hops along behind her and somehow arrives at the destination first. After that, she could do no wrong.
Pinkie Pie may not be my favourite, but she is a very close second due to her level of randomness and animated personality. That hardly shows up in more recent cartoons, and it's nice to have it return. She can even compete against Freakazoid!'s level of random sometimes.
Freakazoid, you say? Well, how about Pinkazoid! I know this video isn't new, but I'll post it in case you haven't seen it already in EPR or somewhere else. Besides, it's relevant to your post:
Mentioning Freakazoid! to see that video referenced is exactly what I was hoping to see. It truly shows her randomness at her prime. And you, good sir, brought it up.
I didn't set out to choose any specific favourite pony while watching the series, but as I got to the later episodes I was surprised to realise that Pinkie Pie was my favourite. I think it's her spontaneous and unbeatable joy and laughter which makes me like her so much. I'm almost the opposite to her, but I would love to be able to do what makes me and other people happy without caring about what people think (like with Gilda in episode 5). I can't wait until season 2, so I can see her character develop even more. An interesting and almost controversial (relative to Equestria) childhood provides an interesting back story, and it would be really great to see that developed. But really I don't care which part of her they develop, because she will always make me laugh.
Pinkie Pie is my 2nd favorite pony out of the Mane six. She's definitely the most fun out of the six. I just love how random she is. So much so, her humor reminds me a lot of Looney Tunes. I'm not going to lie, the very first time I saw her, I found her irritating. She won me over with her singing and her lovable personality. It's almost fitting that my top two ponies are part of my personal funniest song in the series so far. You know what I'm talking about. She kind of creeped me out in Party of One, but in a good way. Her senses can be pretty random at times, especially at the end of Feeling Pinkie Keen where Celestia comes the heck out of nowhere. Put for me, there's one word that defines Pinkie Pie for me: FORRREVERR!!
