She grinned, looking up at him.
He watched her thoughtfully, reaching over and brushing her hair back slowly.
She was quiet, but looked up at him after a moment. "Can we celebrate your birthday year?"
He blinked, looking uncomfortable. “What?”
She shrugged. "Your birthday. We should celebrate it."
“You don’t know my birthday.”
"It's May 25th."
He squinted st her, rubbing the back of his neck. “Why do you want to celebrate it this badly?”
She grinned at him playfully, raising an eyebrow. "Why don't you?"
He frowned, his brows furrowing. “I don’t like my birthday.”
She rested her head on his shoulder. "We don't have to."
He hesitated, looking down at Aubrey nervously. “What... would you do?”
She shrugged. "Nothing big. Probably just give you a gift or something."
This only seemed to make him more uncomfortable. “A gift?”
"Yeah. Like, maybe a painting or something."
He softened, looking down at her. “Okay. Okay.”
She grinned. "Really?"
“Yeah,” he relented.
She wrapped her arms around him. "Yay!"
He gave her a playful glare. “You realize I’m only doing this for you, right?”
