“Mm. Makes sense.”
"Yeah. I like you a lot too."
“Good. We have two babies.”
"That is true. It is strictly a partnership of business, though."
“Naturally. And what we did to get the babies was business too?”
She flushed. "..Right."
“I see,” he said flatly, pulling away. “I thought we had something.”
"Thought you realized."
“Yeah. Sorry to disappoint.”
"That's understandable."
"Right," he said uncertainly, sitting up. "I didn't realize it meant nothing to you."
Her brows furrowed and she broke character. "Are you getting up?"
"Yeah," he said after a moment. "Well, if it's just business for you."
She wrapped her srms around him. "Nooo... Don't go.."
"It's fine. I just thought... you know. We were more than that."
"I was joking!"
"Huh. Could have fooled me."
Her brows furrowed. "Jack.."
He squinted at her, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Avice."
