She patted Avice's face playfully before returning to play with Sawyer.
She chuckled, turning on her back.
Jack, meanwhile, had dozed off again.
She continued to hold his hand, watching the kids.

Jack woke a while later, blinking sleepily.
Avice had dozed off, her hand holding his.
He smiled, kissing her temple before standing up.
She shifted, not waking.
He went to the kitchen, beginning to chop up the pineapple.
After a few minutes, Avice joined him, slipping her arms around him from behind.
He glanced up in surprise, looking at her. "Hey, you."
She kissed the back of his neck before moving to his side. "Hey."
"What're you doing?" he asked, putting an arm over her.
"Just watching," she said easily. "What sbout you?"
"Making some pineapple."
"Perfect."
He offered her a piece, one brow raised.
