"What? Why not?"
"There's been a murder," she said sarcastically.
"What?! Really?"
"Jack, no."
She would hear a sigh. "Can I come in?"
"Nope. Not in the kitchen."
"Why not?"
"Cause I said so."
"Are you making pancakes?"
"Yes. But they're a surprise."
"How so?"
"Because I said so. Secret ingredient."
"Is it pineapple?"
"You'll see. Be patient."
"I'm not a patient man."
"I'm aware. You'll have to be, though."
"Should I just roll around on the floor?"
"I- ..what?"
"I'll do it if you don't let me in."
