There came a dull thud as he hit his forehead on the board, groaning slightly. "Damn it..."
She glanced back. "You okay?"
"Yup," he said, rubbing his forehead. "Just peachy."
She chuckled, looking out the porthole. "It's quiet."
"Yep. Until the cannons start firing."
"I think they'd sound cool."
"They hurt my ears."
She went to him, covering her hands over his ears playfully. "There!"
He blinked in surprise before grinning at her. "Thank you."
She chuckled, pulling her hands away. "You're welcome."
He looked around before going to the cannons and pulling out a cloth, tossing it to her.
She caught it, sitting next to the cannon. "So we clean them?"
"That would be part of your duties, yes."
"That sounds easy enough."
"Mm. It's probably the most mundane part of this all."
"I like it."
"Do you? This might be a good fit, then."
"Is it? Well that's good."
"We'll just have to come down here during an attack."
"Sounds fun."
