“We are,” he confirmed, offering her a handful of earplugs.

“Don’t put them in yet.”

 

“That’s alright,” he said, moving around and checking dials and positions. “I’ll teach you. Come over here.”

 

He tapped three of the cannons.

“So, these are not ordinary ones. The captain designed them herself. They have different functions.”

 

“Yup. They’re for different attacks.”

 

“So, this one is the triple header. It shoots three small cannonballs.”

 

“We also have the traditional cannonball, and then one that explodes on impact.”

 

“It is, isn’t it?”

 

“You shoot them at big ships.

 

“Right. It’s fairly simple. Come with me.”

 

He brought her to the back before handing her a pair of heavy gloves.
