Pirates! (One-on-One)

“So you don’t blow yourself up.”

 

He offered them to her.

 

“Nah,” he said, watching her intensely. “Put them on.”

 

He studied her for a moment before bursting into laughter.

“You look ridiculous. Take them off.”

 

He caught them easily as a loud crashcame from above deck. He glanced up for a moment before growing solemn.

“Right. Okay. Can you carry one of those big cannonballs over here?”

 

While she was doing so, he forced a charge into one of the cannons before gesturing.

“Put it in. Hurry.”

 

“Good girl,” he said gently, moving onto the next one. “Go get some more, yeah?”

 

“There we are,” he said gently. “Get ready to fire.”

 

He took them, nodding gratefully before working with the fuse.

“Ready?”

 

He called up to the captain through the hole.

“Cannons ready!”

“Hold your position!” she commanded.
