A small flush appeared on his cheeks and he shook his head, standing up. "Doesn't matter. Get ready for the day, okay?"
She smiled slightly before standing to kiss his cheek almost playfully. "Thanks for staying with me."
He seemed agitated, heading for the door. "You can't just do that! That means something! I have a girlfriend that I very much like!"
"You held my hand all night, Jack. That may not have meant much to you, but it meant a lot to me." She paused before sighing and looking down. "I'm sorry. I should know my boundaries."
He studied her for a moment before sighing, shaking his head and returning to her. "No, I'm sorry. I overreacted." He paused before opening his arms to her. "Friends?"
He patted her back a little awkwardly, but he would smell wonderfully familiar, his body strong and steady under her arms. "Good. That's, uh... good."
