He kissed her cheek, his eyes warm. "Are you excited?"
"Of course. I'm sure it will be nice.'
"It's a birthday surprise."
She grinned. "I hope you know this means I'll do something for yours, too."
His face fell and he shook his head. “Please don’t.”
She kissed his cheek. "Don't worry. I'm teasing."
He relaxed, nodding his head. “Right,” he said as Aubrey came in, dragging the stroller behind her.
She brushed Aubrey's hair back, her expression thoughtful. "Thanks, Bree."
She grinned at her mother, exposing a few pearly baby teeth. “Mama, it’s gonna be so fun.”
She chuckled, her eyes bright. "I'm sure it will be."
“Sawyer’s excited too. Look at him.”
She looked down at Sawyer, a small grin on her face. "Are we ready?"
He gurgled, reaching for her.
She picked him up, kissing his cheek.
“Meph,” he gurgled, tugging on her hair.
She nodded. "Shall we?"
"We shall," he said, strapping Sawyer into the stroller.
She nodded, opening the door.
