He laughed lightly, but quickly remembered that he was supposed to retain his composure. He went very still, and kept his mouth in a flat line.
She kissed a line to his cheek, one hand resting on his shoulder, and the other gently brushing his jaw. She paused for a moment, looking into his eyes before kissing him, her lips soft.
He didn't kiss her back, although the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. His eyes stared straight ahead, but they seemed on the verge of breaking.
She smiled slightly, sensing that she would win soon, and kissed his nose gently, running a hand through his hair.
She grinned for a moment, kissing his cheek again before speaking quietly into his ear. "I love you."
