They got in the house and he glanced at her. "I'm going to go put the babies down, okay?"
She nodded, letting go of his hand and offering him Aubrey.
He took her and headed for their room, murmuring to Aubrey under his breath.
She watched him go, picking up Oliver and sitting on the couch.
Oliver mewed, settling in her lap.
She pet him gently, waiting.
Jack returned about ten minutes later.
She looked up. "Hey."
His smile was sincere. "Hey."
She reached up to him.
He sat down next to her and pulled her into his lap.
She grinned, resting against him.
He kissed her hair. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"What do you want for dinner?"
"Anything."
"Well, I made stuff last night, but I need to put it in the oven, okay?"
She nodded. "Fine. Leave me."
