He blinked in surprise, kissing the top of her head. "I'm glad you like it."
"I do."
The alarm on the stove rang and he pulled away. “I’ll get it.”
She sighed. "Hurry back."
He went into the kitchen and a delicious smell floated through the house.
She leaned back, holding the locket gently.
"Are you coming to eat?" he called through the archway.
She stood after a moment. "It smells great."
"I'm glad. It's your favorite."
She smiled, heading in. "Is it?"
"It is. With tomatoes from the garden."
She grinned, kissing his cheek. "That's lovely."
"We also have a cake," he said mournfully.
"Did you make that, too?"
"I did. Aubrey helped."
She grinned. "It sounds wonderful."
He kissed the top of her head. "What should we do next year?"
She laughed. "I don't know. It seems like a long time.
"I need to start planning now."
"Oh, hush.."
