"People only call it prying when there's something they want to hide," Jack said, peering down at her. "For example, romantic feelings for a friend."
"Why do you even care?" she asked slowly, glaring up him. Her tone challenging, but she tried to seem like she was joking. "I don't see any reason as to why you should."
"I know, but that's a bad excuse." She sighed, frowning at him. "I'm sure you'd like to know if I'm in love with, but the answer would surely disappoint you."
She laughed, shaking her head. "Okay, fine. I'm terribly in love with you." Her tone was sarcastic, but only she knew that it was true. "You happy?"
(SOO HECKIN CUTE) A look of hopefulness crossed his face for a split second, his eyes widening, and his lips parting slightly in surprise as he looked down at her. Almost immediately, though, he realized she was joking and his face became unreadable. "Very happy," he said nodding. "Thank you."
(KISS JUST DO IT) "Good," she said, looking up at him. "I'm not going to just let you be right all the time, so enjoy it."
"Enjoying it," he said, nodding with satisfaction. They went down into the dining hall, where merry music could be heard. "Having a great time over here."
"Ah, yes. The perfect time to drink! During parties!" She looked over him, then his hand. She wanted to take it, but couldn't. "I can't wait."
His fingers were long and capable and he glanced down at her, almost ruefully. "Don't get too drunk, now," he said. "I'm a little scared of the idea of a drunk Avice."
"Oh no, she's fun. You shouldn't worry!" She crossed her arms, grinning up at him. "I'll try to limit myself, though."
He looked down at her affectionately and sighed. "Do what you want," he said easily. "If you're completely hammered by the end of this, I'll just take you back to your room."
(lol) "Yes!" she said victoriously. "It's great to know that I lie in good hands." She crossed her arms and looked around with a smile. (I can already tell this will be great.)
