Pirates! (One-on-One)

"Weird?" he asked curiously. "How so?"

 

"She was intimidated by you," he said with an easy smile. "It must be hard to have such a badass baby."

 

"I'm pretty confident that you were the coolest kid," he said with a smile. "You beat up bullies, remember?"

 

"You're intimidating," he said, grinning down at her. "Anyone would be scared of you." He paused and then kissed her cheek. "It's amazing."

 

"It's amazing," he confirmed. "You're so sure and bold and confident. It's wonderful to be around."

 

He brushed her hair back idly, almost as if it was instinctual.

"I do think so. Oh, and by the way, Natalia stopped me yesterday when we went to go grab blankets. Apparently, we should be in Maydye by this evening."

 

"You're excited for Maydye?" he asked with a grin. "You know that it's not a very friendly town."

 

"It'll be the most exciting moment of their boring lives," he said, grinning down at her.

 

"Do you make a habit of pranking people who are unkind?" he asked.

 

"I'll have to watch out, then. I must never be cross with you," he teased, kissing her cheek.
