"My sister," he said, shrugging. "I don't know. I'd imagine you with a childhood friend."
"Not really," she admitted. "I didn't connect that well."
"Too busy punching everyone?" he asked with a grin.
"Not just that. I liked spending time by myself."
"Did you draw back then, too?"
"Yeah," she said. "That's why I liked being alone."
"Who taught you how to draw, anyway?" he asked, kissing her forehead.
"I did," she answered. "I taught myself, mostly."
"Really?" he asked, surprised. "No one inspired you?"
"No. There was a lot of art where I lived, and I wanted to do art like everyone else."
"Huh," he said thoughtfully. "What did you start on first? Acrylic?"
"Water color, if pencils don't count." He smiled slightly. "Acrylic is a bit harder."
"Oh?" he asked. "How so?"
"Because it doesn't blend or lay down as easy. But it does make good details."
"I see. So you went watercolors and then acrylic..?"
"Yeah, then I went into gouache, which is difficult."
"Gouache?" he asked. "What is that?"
"It's a type of paint," she replied. "It works well, but it's hard to use and difficult to find."
"Huh. Did you enjoy using it?"
"Kinda. It was new to use," she said. "Different."
