He nodded slowly. "I just... I want to remember something. I mean, I'm sorry Avice, but I don't know you. As far as I'm concerned, I've never met you in my life."
Her expression fell for a moment, but it was hardly noticeable as she looked unaffected. "That's okay."
He looked up at her, his brows furrowed. "I mean, you can understand that, right? You can understand why that's not okay."
He exhaled slowly, putting his hands in his pockets. "I'm... I'm sorry, Avice. I think I gotta be alone for a while."
A sweet singing drifted across the beach and Jack frowned, looking up curiously. A small child was playing in the water, a little girl with curly brown hair and blue eyes. She was singing sadly, looking at him thoughtfully. He stood up, frowning as he approached. "Are you okay?"
The market was near the shore, and Avice happened to be nearby, though she was unaware of what was happening.
She looked up at him with sky blue eyes, and Jack frowned. "You look like..." He hesitated before shaking his head. "What are you doing out here?" "I know how to get your memories back," she said primly.
