They returned to the hotel and Jack looked around for a moment before looking over at Avice. "I'm going to take a walk, if that's okay."
Hours passed, and Jack wandered, ignoring the swirling thoughts in his head. He eventually found a market, his hands in his pocket and his head down. There was a moment before he heard a voice. "Tuck Sparks." Jack turned around.
"So... she lied?" Jack was sitting across from Knox, his brows furrowed, his fingers tight around the drink Knox had given him. Knox nodded somberly. "I'm afraid so. Aubrey and I... we didn't realize that you had amnesia, but... she's clever, Tuck. Avice is sneaky. She's been after you this whole time.
He looked down at the floor, shaking his head slightly. "I... I had no idea. She told me you were a really bad guy." Knox huffed, shaking his head. "She's done a lot of damage, Tuck. Come on, I'll take you back to the house."
Avice spotted them and her eyes widened. Her voice caught in her throat before barked out to them. "Jack! Stop!"
He looked back for a moment, looking torn, and Knox glanced over his shoulder, his eyes narrowing before he nudged Jack into the carriage, muttering something to him. The door closed behind them and the cart started off.
