She pursed her lips stubbornly before going around to her counter. "I generally give discounts to nice boys who enter my store."
He frowned and the change in expression made him look more familiar. "What's to stop me from just leaving the money here?"
He frowned, raising one eyebrow playfully as the door tinkled again. A black-haired, beautiful young woman entered. Avice would recognize her as Lady Aubrey Sparks. The woman was infamous for her long line of suitors, none of which had managed to attract her attention. She wore a simple grey dress and her raven locks cascaded over her shoulders carelessly.
She raised one eyebrow, approaching. Her cool eyes swept over the counter before landing upon Tuck. "Are you ready to go, Tuck?" she asked, her warm tone not matching her appearance. "The horses are getting antsy." "In a moment, Bree. I'm haggling with Ms. Rohesia here, who just threatened to throw coins at my head."
Aubrey looked confused, but Tuck's gaze was warm with good-humor. "No, I'm fairly certain you said you would... what was it? Throw it at my head? And then you told me to choose wisely. Was that a threat, Ms. Rohesia?"
Aubrey was watching this interaction, her eyes quickly darting between the two. "You joke with someone you have only just met. You also referred to me as a... a nice boy to whom you would give a discount?"
