He grinned, his eyes meeting hers. "Thank you, Ms. Rohesia," he said, dropping a pouch of coins on her counter. "I appreciate your business."
He took the flowers gently before heading for the door. The bell jingled as he left. Aubrey eyed Avice curiously, her eyes thoughtful and sharp.
She paused before smiling. “There’s a masquerade ball coming up,” she said coyly. “Lots of dancing. You should attend, Ms. Rohesia.”
"And you did threaten my brother," she said smoothly. She considered Avice for a moment, her cool eyes studying her. "Blue, I should think. Or a nice red."
She was in the middle of fixing up the flowers, adding more to the groups that needed it. She looked up at the door.
Aubrey had entered. She was now wearing practical trousers and a blouse. "Good evening, Ms. Rohesia," she said primly.
