She had a good poker face, but she raised one eyebrow. "Because the alternative is you going to prison for threatening my brother with violence," she said good-naturedly. "Now, come and look."
She laughed. She had an easy laugh, like her brother. "I'm kidding, Avice. Come look at the dresses and decide which one you want to wear."
The cart was full of beautiful dresses of every different color, although Aubrey hadn't lied when she said that she had focused more on blue and red. They sparkled with gems and silk and she gestured. "What do you think?"
"It's a loan, Avice, don't worry. I wouldn't give you the responsibility of having to panic over these. Do you want to try them on?"
