"No, it's okay," she said, taking the plates into the kitchen. "It's funny."

 

"It's endearing," she said, glancing back. "I think you're doing really well."

 

Her hand brushed his arm warmly.

"Definitely."

 

"No, Tuck. I'm serious."

 

She nodded, a smile crossing her face.

"Wonderful."

 

"No, of course not. I love you."

 

She cleaned up the dishes.

"It's getting kind of late."

 

"Mm. Kinda. Are you?"

 

She nodded.

"It has."

James entered.

"Charlotte and I are going to retire for the night, but you're welcome to stay up. Av, make sure you close the fireplace before heading to bed."

"I will."

 

"Thank you! You too," he said, before heading off.
