She frowned, but eventually agreed. "Okay. Fine. Goodnight, Jack." She shut the door, glaring at it after she did so. "Frickin stupid," she grumbled. "Can't even believe that I like him."
He watched her door after she closed it. After a minute or so, he sighed and turned away, his steps quiet against the wooden deck.
There was shuffling and an annoyed mumble, before a voice sounded. It was Avice. "Come in." She tried to stay quiet, but loud enough to be heard.
She was not in the bed, but instead on the floor, curled up comfortably in a blanket. The note from last night seemingly unseen. She looked up at him from under the blanket, her expression fierce. "Killer headache. Last night was a bad idea." She kept her voice low.
"Uh, no I think I can deal with it," she said, putting a hand on his knee. "Did I do anything stupid?"
He hesitated, and then grinned at her. "You told me you loved me," he said. "And you kissed my cheek."
She reluctantly emerged from the blankets, moving over to the desk where she looked at the note, bringing it close to her face. "Oh... Hm. S-so I kissed your cheek?"
"I apologize," she said slowly, crumpling up the paper. "So, um, when I'm drunk I'm probably more honest than I am when I'm sober.."
