Jack returned almost a half hour later, his jaw tight and his brow drawn. He sat on the bed next to her. "Hey," he said, obviously tense.
He ran his hand through his hair, sighing. "No. Not really. But it's alright." He turned to face her, his eyes conflicted. "If this doesn't sound too pathetic, would you be okay with hugging me for a while?"
She wrapped her arms around his ribcage without hesitance, her embrace warm and loving. "Of course," she said softly. "Do you want to talk about it?"
He sighed, his tense muscles immediately relaxing from her touch. He buried his head in her shoulder, his arms around her waist. "Not right now," he said quietly. "I daresay we'll talk about it in due time, but for now I just want to lie here with you."
